Ranger Renegade Hawk.......wow!!!

jsbelljr83

Glad you got the hawk and that you are happy with it. I am also glad to hear that you are doing alright after the huricane. I am sure that you will enjoy playing with your new toy.

Sharp Phil

Once again great review on the blades and I can't wait to see what Lawrence comes up with for the hawk. :D

Dammit!...Yesterday, I came within a few seconds of winning a bid at eBay for a Ranger Renegade Hawk, but some rat-bastard sniped it from me in the last few seconds!....Now it looks like I'll never own one.:(.

BTW...The winning bid was somewhere around $89, and that included a book on 'Hawk fighting.

Dr. Thor is correct. The cost is $150 for the base modle and they are a little more if you get one with some extras.

Thank you all again for the nice comments. Keep an eye open since there are a few more hawks in the works that will be coming out shortly. :D

Hopefully one of those will be the collaboration with SRKW for the Entry Hawk!! :D :D I sure hope so, I love the look of that thing!

I couldn't resist the Renegade Hawk after seeing the pics Porcupine posted and checking out the Ranger Knives website! I have been working with Justin, the mastermind behind the Renegade and he is making one with a small chisel back so it still sticks but you can groove or hollow out a chuck of wood. I haven't even seen my hawk yet (we just confirmed my order yesterday and he says it will ship by the weekend...even with my customization) but I am already want another one with that nasty spike on the back! Will try to post pics when I get it! :D

Justin, thank you for this awesome piece of work! I haven't field tested my Renegade yet but it is an impressive little tomahawk. If this performs anything like it looks and feels, I am going to be so stoked! I am going to go out and chop some stuff up this weekend and will post here with some thoughts. Another detail not to be underestimated is that it comes with very nicely built sheath! :D

Dunner

You are welcome. I will be looking forward to seeing what you throw at that hawk or is that the other way around. :D

Just saw the entry hawk on knifecenter. Looks like a serious piece and the price is good too. How much does it weigh and is the handle wrapped or scaled or what? Also it really is sharp right? I get nervous with all the prying talk that the edge will actually just be a sorta wedge shaped pice of steel.

Looks sweet though, what sorta options are available for your hawks?

Sorry for the delay in getting something posted here. I will do my best to answer your questions. Weight of the piece is about 1 pound 13 OZ. The handle is cord wrapped and yes it is sharp. :D Options for the hawk are pretty much endless. From finish to handle slabs just about anything you can think off I can do. Thank you for the compliment on the hawk and once again I am sorry for the delay in getting a response to you.

I'd just like to say that I've been in communications with Justin for the past few days to work out the design of a hawk that will be exactly what I want (maybe he can post some design sketches). He is an absolute pleasure to work with and has gone the extra mile to give me what I want! I recommend that anyone looking for a hawk talk to him!!! A total gentleman. :D

Bo

Thanks :D I am working on a couple different versions. There is one specific for the Fire Department I am working on and that one my friend is a no BS piece. When it is finished I will try and get some pictures up.

Hey Justin, did you get my e-mail with the attachment of the design modifications? Very interested to hear your opinions and suggestions! Take care!

hey j.davey, you think you can tell us what your cooking up for justin ;) i would like to know what your dream hawk is

It is a integral hawk (one piece) with a head shaped ver much like his usual hawk, but I tweeked the head a bit. the handle is straight and has a slightly forward curving spike at the end of the handle, with black micarta slabs. Overall length will be around 16 inches. Steel will be 1095 at a rc of about 54 (if I remember correctly). Like I said, maybe Justin can post a pic. I would, but don't know how.

I did get your email with the design. Did you not get my reply? If you didn't just let me know and I will resend it to you. It is a pretty slick design. A little different but very functional. Should be a great piece. ;) I will see what I can do to get the sketch up that is if it is ok with you. Thanks again and let me know if you got the email.

J.Davey
