Rant about a thread over in the training section...

If they had handled this different, I would have been interested in buying one.
A more sensible approach would be something like to note the quality of HI's product and offer a focused martial khukuri which might appeal to some and invite the members to try your product and compare, offer up one for a pass around for example.

But instead you take a highly respected product classify it as low quality, proclaim yours are superior and when questioned, start talking about why people should listen to you instead of actually saying something worth hearing.

I really fail to see how that could be expected to generate anything but the obvious result. You have now dug a nice big hole and in order to fix the hole you invite friends over to try to cut the hole out.

Khukriluv is digging Tora's hole deep. Any sympathy I had for Tora is rapidly disapearing. Simon brought this upon himself with a terrible, illadvised post, from which he has not retreated or apologized. Despite Leanne's peaceful gesture, this left the gate open for disgusting display.
KL enjoys the event. He is in his element- trolling.

I'd like to thank all of you who chose to post in the thread. You conducted yourselves with class and intelligence. Your quality in turn speaks well for this forum and HI. Perhaps business has a hand in choosing it's customer base. I am proud of those who choose HI. I doubt Simon can say the same now for those 'defending' Tora by attacking HI.

And the saddest thing; no one here disliked Tora. There was room for more khukuris, we all thought. Warned once about discretion in Bill's forum, Simon has posted his superficial attack on HI in an effort to boost his company.

Have any of us ever insulted Tora in an effort to defend Bill or HI? Of course not.

I am sad. This was not the human heart's best hour- and our own hearts were not unkind.

Karma. Bill changed his life, went to Nepal, and wanted to do better by himself and those suffering there. He did. The success of HI worldwide is proof of that, as are all of you, my friends.

I would actually be curious to know if Simon actually thinks KL's posts are helping him. He has spammed the Axe forum with the same nonsense.

From the, 'can't believe people would choose to behave even worse after crapping on the lawn' department: a forumite has just written me with the information that Simon at Tora has posted a link to the martial arts thread on BF where the trolling is going on. They are having a good laugh about it, and about HI, in the thread devoted on Tora to same.

When Simon wanted the HI community, and the international blade community to notice him and his start up business Tora, we were willing and open. Why shouldn't there be more khuks in the world? We like khuks. HI was the place to go, and here is where Simon came.

I was seriously considering requesting Simon's banned status to change. That is no longer an option I'm interested in. Rusty got it right the first time.

This just in; Simon posted his list of 'bad poorly made khuk qualities' in BF, and then started the concurrent thread on his own forum- he's set the bait and wanted his Tora forumites, all 3 or 4 of them, to join in. He'd planned this from the start.

I'm forwarding this information to the Supermods to assist in future evaluations of Simon's presence in BF.

I wonder if this is the same Simon that on a british BB managed to get himself (almost) banned, his basic attitude was: I know everything and all others are wrong, regardless wheather they were or not.

Just like variations among organisms in biology, each trying to compete for limited resources with the traits or characteristics they have, we have an elegant solution in 'survival of the fittest'. It doesn't matter how loud you roar, if the other guy is better at making use of available resources than you, then he has more offspring and you get replaced (made extinct). Turns out that the more useful variations you have, the better your chance of adapting to changes in the environment and surviving in the long run. Applying this to the evolution of any kind of tool or weapon, some changes turn out to be less useful and disappear; other changes demonstrate real utility and become the newest, most useful weapon or tool available. In a short time, we will see where the real utility lies, because people with real world problems will gravitate to the best design available. You will still have a few people standing around saying "That isn't how it used to be" and getting left behind. I'm personally betting that, based on the smiles and instant recognition of quality from those I have given HI blades, HI kamis will still be turning out the best and most useful khukris long after the others are gone. Survival of the fittest also applies to blades.... :D

I'll always remember the joy and awe I experienced when I held in my own hand that first HI khuk. The spirit behind the blade was palpable. I knew the little BAS first ordered was far too little, and started recieving longer blades immediately. Each one had a gasp factor. Real Wonder.

The blades were magic and still are, and Bill had it right. Karma.

I don’t see that much of a problem with the original post. I am an avid HI fan with about 100 or so various blades. I have several other brands as well but the HI ones are the ones I prefer.
The thread started out as a way to get some attention though the thread has gotten worse since a few groupies jumped in to worship their hero but you have to take that for what it is.
The other threads that have started popping up after that should be expected from keyboard warriors.
The original thread was done in very poor taste as well as some of the following remarks, but it is a sale pitch and should be expected.
Maybe sales are low and a little attention is needed. Problem is that kind of attention hurts in the long run because you lower yourself when you go about things that way.
Uncle Bill had and still has respect and for a product that is personal like these blades that respect is as important as the makers and the blades.
I doubt it really changed anyone’s mind about any of the Khukuries, but it may have changed a few minds about the people involved.

I'm locking this thread down. The original thread linked in the first post is still active, and comments may be posted there, as long as the local moderators will tolerate it.

Bill used to have just a couple of rules, and forbidding denigration of the competition was one of them. I think we should continue to maintain the atmosphere here in the HI forum that he fostered.

Apparently the original thread has spawned rancorous clones in a couple of places, this thread being one.
