Rant: Annoying e-bayers!

... but more bizarre is Fällkniven. They are made in Sweden (next door to me) but buying them from Sweden or here or elsewhere in the EU costs a lot more than from the USA! Maybe Wallmart is responsible for these cheaper US prices too?
That is bizarre, as I find Fällkniven knives to be extremely overpriced even in the USA. Maybe they really are "all that good" (I don't own any, due to the price), but I've seen customs cheaper than some of their production stuff.

GRIPE Radioshack refuses to ship to the EU even using Visa or Paypal the fogging dirtbags! I want one of those 10 dollar mini microscopes to examine blade edges but can't get hold of one WHINE! Help??
No you don't. Want one, that is. I've got one, and they're way too powerful, and let in way too little light to be all that useful. The field of view is so small that it's a major pain to use. You'd be much better off with a 10-15x jeweler's loupe. I like the Belomo Triplet, for which I paid something like $15 US, shipped. It is the single best investment in my sharpening skills that I've made. It really helps to see what you're doing (or have done, as the case may be).

Matt, you could still bid on it from over there, e-mail and tell the seller that you will have it shipped to a US address, I did the same recently on the E-bay UK website, had it shipped to my fathers address in the UK, he then in turn shipped the knife to me in the US, usually the seller does not mind doing that, then at least you can feel better about how much and how high you would bid, without getting anyone else involved, No offense to anyone who offered to help you out, I would do the same if you are stuck, I can also do PAYPAL.

Thanks Rusty. I have e-mailed him to ask that question, so we'll see what he says. :)

Is the chap you talking about the maker? I have one of his knives that I bought last summer at the Vincennes Rendezvous. He's a pretty good bladesmith and my knife was sharp as hell and of similar design, but not damascus. I did look over his damascus though and it's all good. I have his card with a phone number if you want to see about buying directly from him if the ebay deal falls through.

Kerry, I don't know, but I suspect the seler is not Jeff White due to the way the advert is written referring to Mr. White in the 3rd. person.
Yes please, I'd like his contact details. :D

ParaGlock, Fallkniven are very highly thought of in Europe, especially in what has become known as bushcraft.

Good luck Matt, hope it works out, just let me know if you need back up in any way, glad to help if need be.

Really pleased for you Matt, hope you can post pics when you receive it,
Well done.

I sell some stuff on ebay and I will not ship outside the USA-NO exceptions. Too much trouble at the post office and the buyer would pop a negative feedback on the seller for a CUSTOMS or SHIPPING problem. It is real easy for someone to leave a negative and just say "never got item" knowing that the seller did nothing wrong. I have seen it happen many times. Also international bidders are far more likely than USA bidders to be scammers.

I ship to the USA only, take paypal only, and I will only ship to a confirmed paypal address. I quit accepting MO's and checks a year ago. Going to the bank and waiting on the checks to clear was a nuisance.

My feedback is 100% and have never had a problem.

I am sorry that people in other countries have problems with these things but selling on ebay is a matter of convienence.

Well, I understand the reasons why some of you prefer not to ship overseas.
Why any of my countryfolk won't do so within the EU is beyond me though! :D

Whoohoo!!!! It arrived this morning! :D

Review & pics soon! :)

Thanks a ton & huge thumbs ups for Bastid for his assistance. And thank you to all who offered help here too.

Glad it turned up, that was some wait. look forward to viewing the pics.

Dammit, I hate it when I spot a real nice knife & the :jerkit: **** :jerkit: selling it says it's their policy not to ship out of the U.S. I'm in the U.K. for Pete's sake!! We're supposed to be allies! It's not like I'm in effing Russia or something!!!

It's a really nice looking trader style damascus fixed blade too!! :grumpy:

Sorry guys, I've had this reaction a few times just recently & it's getting to me.

You think thats bad:( : I live in Canada with over 4,000 miles of unprotected border with my American friends and over 100 years of peaceful relations. 90% of the knives on ebay and in blade forum exchange go to continental USA only. I guess the fellow Americans in Alaska and Hawaii feel screwed too!

Maybe it's sour grapes for Canada not joining the Great American Adventure....

Yeah its all kinda silly. Green is green after all! Then there are the other ebayers who allow sales outside the U.S but gouge bigtime on shipping. There is one seller on ebay who has a great selection of Zippos but wants to charge 20$ U.S to ship one Zippo to Canada! And no thats not insured or overnight or via UPS or Fed-ex. This guy wants 20$ bucks for U.S Postal service (parcel post/cheapy) shipping of one Zippo! Thats nuts! I've had guitars shipped from the U.S for only 30 something bucks!
Thankfully there are also a lot of really good U.S ebayers, the guy i usually deal with charges 3-6$ which is the actual cost to ship a zippo.

We just lost 6 troops in Afghanastan today as part of the Bush intiated coalition fighting a war on terror. Yes we are in and we are dying.

Yet buying knives from the US is generally much cheaper than buying in the EU. Buck knives are very costly in the EU but more bizarre is Fällkniven. They are made in Sweden (next door to me) but buying them from Sweden or here or elsewhere in the EU costs a lot more than from the USA! Maybe Wallmart is responsible for these cheaper US prices too?

Fallkniven knives are made in Japan.

Really? Those cunning Swedes(my next door neighbours)
Are you sure or is it just the steel that's Japanese??

I actually meant not becoming part of the USA at the end of the 18th century...
