So yesterday, I received a new watch in the mail and was bored so I thought I'd go out and shoot a few photos of it. Everyone once in a while, I'll frequent another popular "Watch" website for those "seeking watches". They usually have a good used classifieds section. They also have a fairly good database of user reviews for just about every watch model and brand so it's good reading. Anyway, I received a new beater watch in the mail yesterday and went out to take some photo of it. The watch by itself does not stand up very well unless propped up so I took out my Spyderco Dragonfly to use to hold it in place. Well I posted the photo in their specific G-Shock forum and the photo gets deleted and I get the rule violation quote, "No Weapons of Any Kind" in any photos. Now, I realize it's their website an all and they can enforce whatever rules they want but a 2 inch dragonfly is considered a weapon? Come on!?!? So I guess, you can't post base ball bats, large sticks, rocks, screw drivers, et al....This world has become soo feminized and PC.
Anyway, here's the offending photo (Warning: Terrifying offensive content):

Sorry guys, just had to rant a bit...I won't be posting over there anymore.

What a bunch of pansies. I would not waste my time on a forum with people who thought like that.

That's my opinion.

Oh the horror... I agree with Tostig, I wouldn't frequent a forum with such close minded rules. Nice picture by the way.

I think the knife compliments the watch and makes it look cooler! Well, this is a blade website so I should say the watch compliments the blade. Anyway you get the idea

Welcome to the new politcally correct world. Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves with the chicken sh.. spineless "citizens" that are country is rampent with now days.

2 fine pieces of equipment there! Just stay on this forum with the rest of us weapon toting crazies!

should have used a bigger knife IMHO.

I agree. Go big or go home. :D

It's their website like you said so you have to play their game. Though how did a rule of "no weapons of any kind" come into being? They have gang problems or something on there? I'll never understand why some people anthropamorphize inanimate objects. Guns and knives don't kill people all by themselves.

I am going to have to ask you to take down the offensive picture of the threatening watch.:)

That's both silly and predictable. It's silly because the watch could have been propped up on a ballpeen hammer and not violated the rule, but I'd much rather face a thug with a dragonfly in an alley than a thug with a ballpeen.

And it's predictable because websites have to have some rules, but none that I know of are moderated well enough to administer complete, reasonable and flexible rules. So most forum rules are broad, simple and absolute blunt instruments -- which happens to work most of the time.

Yeah, it's dumb. I understand their position though. They aren't interested in opening the "what is a weapon" can of worms. Say they didn't delete the post. Inevitably the prototypical forum white knight would have pointed out the no weapons rule in the TOS. Then, the moderators would end up having to defend their decision not to delete it. At that point it would probably have been deleted by another moderator just on the basis that it was causing a stir. If it still hadn't been deleted at that point, it would turn into a debate-- and over what? A pocket-knife that, in terms of content, doesn't need to be in the picture in the first place.

I'd like to acknowledge a couple things before they are pointed out:

1) The knife makes the picture more interesting, and it's not out of place or gratuitous
2) I don't personally consider the knife in question to be a weapon
3) It's a nicely composed picture
4) I understand your frustration

I recon I could beat someone half to death with a watch if I was motivated enough. I think they should prob take down all the pictures of watches over a certain weight, and anything hard. Come to think of it my buddy works in a prison and they make weapons out of newspaper, so no more paper products either, a pen is most certainly a weapon so...no more pens pencils. I'm ok with crayons and markers as long as the markers are washable. I've seen my buddy break a guys nose with his own shoe, so shoes are out too, I'd be willing to let flip-flops slide though. Anyways what does that leave us with, goose down and vagisil?

I knew a guy that claimed to have killed a man with his plastic watch band.

The world is full of places that have rules. Not much point in complaining about it.

That's f-ing ridiculous.

That's the strictest moderation I have ever heard of.

Even on the Lady Gaga forums I post pictures of my knives and guns and axes and what-have-you and everyone there is cool with it.

F-ing ridiculous.

For example, my response to a thread about coffee on the Gaga Yard forums was:

My response to a thread about James Blunt was:

Better to let off some steam than one-day explode :)

Those people are ridiculous. Don't they know there's a right time to cut something?
