I expect more from a bladeforum poster of your caliber.

Can I have your calendar since you're not using it? :D

I have a caliber??? when did I get that??? and why didnt anyone tell me about it???

yes on the calender, It will take me a while to find it though...

You didn't mention the quench medium, tho. C'mon man! Everyone knows it must be the blood of a virgin, warmed to 130F.

Forget about medieval quenchants. Didn't you get Scotty's memo on steel hardening with LZ gel rub? Scatter beam 'em up Scotty!

Well now you need to design a knife. Use a lot of straight lines with little to no curves. Go big for your first, make a large chopper with 3/8 steel (doesn't matter which, just make sure its rusty). Also, make sure theres a pinky hole for bear defense.
I'm sure someone will add anything I missed.

Funny, my first knife is actually going to be a huge heavy chopper, though mine has curves... Second will be a flipper.

I second the blue toilet water, nothing better for blade hardness and edge retention than a good soak in the blue stuff.

Scotty would never use a 20th century product to harden his blade, or for that matter a primitive forge, He would simply use the pattern buffers in the transporter to efficiently complete the transformation of austenite to martensite, then hit it with a couple tachyon bursts for good measure ;0)

Read the g-damn stickies before posting such foolishness!!!!!

75 bucks wont even get you good look at a custom knife made by one of the top dog makers

where's the friggin count when you need him ;0)

Easy Big fella. Check the date. It looks like most of the others got it.

Looks like I may have april fooled you pretty good if you thought I was serious..... LOL

I think the best idea is to make a chopper/flipper as a first knife. You'll have to make the blade from SM-100/wrought iron san mai... and it should DEFINITELY have a big harpoon clip. You know, 'cause those are hot right now.

also thick is in make your chopper out of 3/8 leaf springs/ 410 san mai and kepp it .200 behind the edge also you want to have a tanto point and a box like handle with no pins just 5 min epoxy. and for handles I would use a cut up 2x4 because they are easy to work. and lastly JIMPING ! JIMIPING EVERYWHERE!!!!111
