RAT 1 Folder

I have been EDCing a RAT1 for a month now and I would say it is indeed a champ! The overall design and ergos are great! Though its not made by RC, I would say that there are no QC issues with the knife. There is no blade play at all and the liner lock is solid as a tank. The AUS8 blade gets shaving sharp again with a few strokes on the DMT. I would say go for it.

Was wondering about the Ontario RAT vs RAT Cutlery confusion, thanks for clearing this up. Randomly, I have an Ontario RAT-1 coming in the mail tomorrow!

The RAT-1 is a good 'value for money' folder - Ontario seem to aim more for that end of the market. But if you want a dearer folder at some point then the RC stuff is worth looking at - the Izula folder would be worth considering if it is within your budget.

I started EDC'ing my Izula & Streat Beat in my pocket for about 3 weeks now and I'm loving the small fixed blade carry.

I'll still get the Izula's folding brother/sister model when it's released. Can't wait for it - they're very attractive on the site's pics. :)

I currently own 7 Rat 1s they're the best knives for the cheap price you're paying.

I just got a folder in the mail today it says Ontario/RAT Model 1 Folding knife. Is that what knife you are referring to amcardon & gundude73?

Thanks :)

Well eneyman,

I'll have to have it. I'm sure it wil be fair. RAT's knives are always a good value IMHO. :)

It's a very good knife. I received mine from Little Green Men (contest) and it is a stout folder. I particularly like the blade shape and ffg. Put G-10 on the handles and it would be a bargain at $70. The aus-8 steel will get razor sharp even if it's not the highest tech steel.

Thanks again LGM! I really like the knife even if it is a ce blade.;) I prefer pe, but I use this knife while doing yard work and the serrations have actually proved useful.

The RAT Izula folder looks like it will be in a class of its own. And based on RAT's philosophy, I have no doubt it will live up to the hype and exceed all expectations.

Well it's going to be a long wait - in terms of knife addiction - seconds seem like hours and days like weeks and months like years.......:D

I'm sorry gundude73 -

I've never taken any pics of my knives. I don't know why but I never have. I probably could take pics of all of them, I can't see why unless they were for sale, which they aren't. I'll probably unload most of them when I retire. 10.5 months and counting!! :D
