Rat-5 or fallkniven s1

GA Guy, it's more insidious than a mere World War - it's 2009 - the economy is about to tank. Buy American while you still can. If you must have a Falkniven blade, and VG-10 is good, at least check out the custom ones Bark River made for knifesshipfree.com. American handled/American sheathed. Just my humble opinion - worth no more than you paid for it!

Lifetime warranty no questions asked. You are covered unless a badger chews on it.

hahaha i dont think we have any badgers out here but with my luck id be the first to run into a once thought extinct knife eatting badger on casper mountain:(. how is the bravo-2 i was thinking of something a litle bigger to do chopping and the bigger things

The Bravo 2 is a very capable knife, I use mine side by side with my Fallkniven A2. Both knives will get the job done, no problem.

The Bravo 1 or Gunny would be more comparable in size to the RC-5 or S1.

wow they all look amazing i wish i could get them all or there was less choices lol this is crazy haha i never realized how hard it would be to pick one

I don't think there is much of a contest. The RAT knives do absolutely nothing for me. I sold my RAT not long after I bought it and I still have my S1. To me it's not a carbon vs. stainless thing or a US vs. Japan thing, it's a ergonomic vs. clunky thing. The RAT blade is too wide for me and the scales are almost laughably big and clunky. The S1 it just a tad too small, but I prefer that over too big.

Keep in mind this is all personal opinion---your opinion may be 180 degrees from mine---and we would both be right.

IMO if you have small hands you'll hate the RAT.

hehe:D

Chances are you will..... eventually. But for now pick one that you like, that fits your budget, and give it a workout. You can experience the others when the time is right.

elkins45 pretty much mirrors my experience/opinion with RAT, but it is very much a personal preference thing. The RAT's are solid capable knives and I haven't parted with mine because my daughter seems to like it well enough. We will see what she thinks a few months down the road now that she has a Gunny to compare it to.

BTW, hold onto your wallet, I'm going to post a few more Bark River photos, just to entice you into the addiction :D:D
