Could they just sell an RC-4 and accomplish the same thing? So we can cord wrap the handles ourselves.

Problem is, the RC-4 is 3/16" thick. Be easier to just buy a 1/8" blade. Plus, how do you remove the choil?

Oh yeah, since the RC-4's handle is the same size as the RC-3, I'd like the TAK handle better. :D

Dude that was a long PM I sent you:cool: Just use this thread then. Been wanting to know if you went to the school and how was it? I might go this year. I have the money and time and everything it's just that I have been making plans and surviving a week in a Peruvian Jungle wasn't one of them. But it sounds like fun:D. Also if you went to a survival school in CA let me know. I know there are some good survival schools in CA but I would like to hear what you think. Also if you went to Peru how long was your trip and what did you do? It seems like a waste to go there just for a week and then fly back. You must have done more while you were there or at least fly/train to another South American country for some more fun.

Here is something to check out.

How about a choiless, uncoated RC-4 1/8" thick?

Well it would be cool to have it 1/8th, but this takes care of your choil.

Ooooh and how about that handle.

I like the idea of the 3.5", non-choil version of the RC-3 with the modified pommel. It would be a nice refinement of the RC-3 for bushcraft - but perhaps at the detriment for its uses as a LEO tool. Everything else about the knife is perfect.

I would love an RC-3 without a choil or coating. I'd also love a thinner RC-4. Either way, I'm in.

Interesting point here: Though intellectually I like the idea of a choil, I haven't found them to be actually useful. Most of the cutting I do seems to benefit from a knife that has an edge that goes all the way to the handle. Maybe I just like a little bit more protection for my finger, by having the end of the handle between me and the edge.

Why would not having a choil make a knife better suited for backpacking?

Oh yeah! A would love an RC folder! I'll have mine in Blaze orange please ;-) Make that two. Perhaps a Blade-tech/RAT Co-op thingy? I recall Jeff speaking very highly of the blade-tech hunter.

Well I don't think it makes it better or worse. A choil to me is meant for choking up on a blade for finer work. The RC-3 & 4 knives have perfect balance and are under 5"
so I never really need to use the choil, and think it would be nice to have a lil more edge in that case.

Its so personal the whole choil no choil thing, but it can't hurt to make it an option IMO

I agree with tony. Personally I am not a fan of choils. I like a fuller edge. However, I can see the use for one.

I think thats why I love the SERE so much.

Here's my pick 4" blade 3/32" thick but instead 1" wide blade drop point
blade offered in D2 and 1095 linen micarta handles, hole in handle for
bow drill.sheath from sharpshooter with ferro rod.

....how about a RC3 no choil, modified pommel, green micarta scales with fire bow divot, uncoated made from 01 steel.
