Dear,

Hope there are some European readers on this forum.

We can buy Benchmades, Kershaws, Cold Steel, SOG, Ontario ... but I have never seen a RC-4 ...

Does anybody know a shop where we can buy RC-X in Belgium ? Netherlands ?

Kind regards

hello rver,
I live in Romania and do most of my shopping online from knifeworks
they have neat services and nice shipping rates, and Roger is a great guy to deal with
plenty of RAT's to choose from here
hope that helps

You could try www.wolfster.de , but it's a german shop. For the Netherlands or Belgium - sorry no idea. Although I have been to a knife store in Amsterdam that had a nice collection. But it's been a while and I don't remember the name. In Belgium I would try Liege, I remember at least one store there - but that was at least 20 years ago...
With the prices around here I would just order it from one of the many shops in the US. Even with taxes and import duties you'll probably end up paying less.

no rats in Belgium, and even if there was one it would still be cheaper to buy online

Hello,

Rver: There's 2sharp.nl, a shop based in the Netherlands which has both the RC-4 and the RC-3 for example. Though you might just be off cheaper importing it. Personally not dealt with them, but heard no complaints, and they guy seems rather nice from what I can tell on another forum.

Ilten: I think you might be talking about The Oldman, the shop in amsterdam.
They have a rather large collection, though you can't order online.

Here's to hoping my first post can help a 'brother in blades' out:D.

Some will flame me for saying this but... don't buy locally, order online from the other side of the pond. Do your math, it is way cheaper and faster.

Not long ago I ordered a bunch of knives for two friends of mine and myself (over 400€). One of the blades was an RC-4. Buying that stuff here in Spain would have cost more than twice that much.

When we are talking about two, three or even 10€... I do buy locally to support small stores (think SAK's, some sharpeners, etc). But someone trying to make me pay 57€ for a Spyderco Tenacious when I can get them for half that much if I buy from US... is nuts.

want2have.nl does also have one RC-3 for sale. It has a discount at the moment. So I don't know what is cheaper at the moment. The dollar has become stronger, 1,36 now. And the sending cost have all been raised. You could also check ebay.

Just compare the prices. Most knives are twice as cheap in the USA as they're here. For example a Spyderco Millie is 110 bucks and that's now maybe 75 euro and in the Netherlands the cheapest Millie is 150 euro. Some sellers can send pocket knives via an envelope. USPS has that service and you can also insure it. I've had three or four knives via that service and it costs a lot less. Fixed knives can only be send as a package which will cost a lot more.

And don't forget the import tax. You need to pay tax in Holland if your product has a value over 45 euro. December the first they will raise this to 150 euro. But I once imported some cd’s and that cost me 46 euro and I had to pay 20 euro tax because of that. So also keep that in mind.

Just ask the seller to keep the package discret (no need to lie on the customs declaration). As long as it is not a huge package it may very well go under the radar. So far I didn't get any package stopped by customs. Maybe in Holland they are more strict. I can only tell you about how it works here in Spain.

And yes, the USD is getting stronger but... I hope things go back to normal soon (1 EURO = 1,50 USD or so... :D ). That will be the time to snatch a few more blades...

They check about 10% of the packages here I thought. But I don't want to try my luck.
I also thought that ebay sellers always have to put a label on the package. I don't know from which internet shop you buy your knives but maybe they make an exception for you Mikel.

And some stores don't sell internationally and others only do that if you order over a hundred dollar. So at the moment ebay is still the way for me. If I can import higher value stuff then I can also use a site but in nearly all the cases I can get knives off ebay. They also count less sending costs normally.

Spain is a good place for a knife lover right? In the Netherlands you can get most knives also. Folders up to 280mm in total length. Swords and stuff like that is also legal. Auto knives and butterfly knives are unfortunately only legal if the blade is no longer than 90 mm or 3,5''. But our daft government tries to ban butterfly knives and auto’s for good because of the few criminals who misuse them because they think they're cool. And I hate it that throwing knives and stars are illegal here.

Hi there!
So far I have asked all my sellers to keep packages discret and none of them put a single tag on them. The usual USPS box with the customs declaration in front. Nothing that made it stand up among others.

I usually stick to eBay Stores. Nothing wrong with individual sellers, you can always get god deals out there but individuals usually don't ship international and if they do, they charge you a lot for the shipping and handling. And if you try to get a few items from the same guy to combine shipping, chances are you won't be getting a good deal on all of the items. Stores usually have a stock of items you can buy at the same time. If they have good prices on a certain item... chances are other items from the same brand are also fairly priced.

I always ask my friends if they want anything from the same store I will be buying so we can split shipping charges. That helps us getting even better deals.

My last big package came from www.knifesupply.com. Cool guy to deal with. Ships international, let's you pay with PayPal (you just need to send him and email first) and doesn't have any problems with discret packages. I can't tell you if you need to make an order over $100 or anything... but I am 90% sure you don't.

As for Spain being a great place for knive lovers... I will hold myself since this is not Whine&Cheese... :D Have a look at THIS. By the way, autos and any folder with a blade over 11cm is illegal here.

I am not sure whether you are looking for a shop or an online dealer but you should check this out http://www.heinnie.com/. They will ship pretty cheap within Europe, no taxes, and they stock RC-3’s and RC-4’s. The prices are on the high side but it is better than paying a fortune for shipping from the US. I hope this helps. ;)

Buy online directly from the U.S. You'll get much better prices than at any brick and mortar store in Europe.
