Its so awesome to see how many on you support RAT cutlery, you all truly love your RATS....Makes me want a new one... Ive got an ontario-RAT 5..good knife....but i need an RC 5 or RC 4...awesome pics everyone!

I really like the orange on the RC-3 a few posts above by rankor. Especially with the orange 570 cord. Isn't an overly flashy bright orange, but nice and subtle.

I was able to take a quick hike today. I found older downed pines and did some digging but couldn't find any fat wood. At least it was a good opportunity to take some pics of the Izula that I used.

Cross grain batoning isn't the most efficient way to shorten a pole but it works.

I like the way the coating wear on your tanned Izula... It gives a lot of character to your knife.
There is a name for that: "beautility" :-D

Cheers

Great handles you have made for you Izula. Is it Bocote wood ?

Hi, thanks! They are Cocobolo (Rosewood). The same species used mostly on 1911 grips.

I have made 1911 grips using Bocote - its also beautiful wood. I might try for Izula grips using Bocote. There is a source near my home with everything from these species, to snake wood to ebony to zebra wood etc.
