Please contact Jeff and discuss this with him. He will not only take care of you but I'm sure he would like to see the knife in question.

My humble opinion but anyone who spends the time and money on quality cutting tools should have the equipment/knowledge on how to maintain them - sharpening being the most important.

You will never get better unless you try, and there are a lot of kits out there that take the guessing game out of the equation. Spend $40 on a Spyderco Sharpmaker, and never look back.

What TFin04 said. :thumbup::thumbup:

Spyderco,Lansky,GATCO etc.
There are many options if you can't freehand or just prefer a mechanical type device.

I am terrible at sharpening knives so i dont even try anymore.

As was I! I couldn't sharpen on a bench stone for squat and even had mixed results with the Lansky style sharpeners with the guide rods. I saw the Spyderco Sharpmaker and thought I'd give it a shot, and I LOVE it! It's pretty much impossible to mess up as long as you can hold the knife straight. Might be worth a look for ya and might save you a little money in the long run vs/ having someone else sharpen them for you all the time.

edit: oops, guess I should've read the post above my! haha, oh well, +1 for the sharpmaker!

I second this, especially if you haven't tried to deal with it yet, because Rat Prides themselves on their products, so quality control is an important issue. Helps them make an even better product.

EDIT: NM I read you post again and saw that you indeed tried to deal with it yourself.

Nub, our email is very public. All you have to do is send us an email. We will sharpen you knife. Wished you would participate on our forum more. About the only others post you have here was asking for donations of used RAT Cutlery knives: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694959

We are very generous, we stand behind our product, and we are fair, but I'm not gullible either. You want your knife sharpened, send an email to jeff@ratcutlery.com and we'll take care of it. ;)

Best regards,

Jeff

He must have seen this thread then. ;)
We have never accepted emails through BFs or run from a problem. Our email is all over the RAT Cutlery site, Jungle Training site, etc. Not to mention my cell phone #.

Maybe I am cynical, but the timing does seem suspicious based on Jeff's recent generous offer in a similar situation...

Not saying the guy's knife is not dull. But he's begging for donations on his first post in our forum saying he can't afford a new RAT, doesn't hardly participate after that, and now comes back and says he got a new RC knife and it's dull as hell. Yes, I'm suspicious as hell!

I thought I reconized the name ....

I commented about the post Jeff pointed out in the Anything goes thread a while back... I hope this sudden trend goes away soon, I find restraining myself on commenting and not turning things into a hairball difficult.....

We sell sharp knives, but I also have to question anyone who would buy our knives and not know how to sharpen them. We are selling tools. If someone does not know how to maintain this tool then we really don't want to sell one to them because they really don't need it to start with.

You just gave me something to tell people at work when I ask them why their knife is so dull. They tell me they don't know how to sharpen them. Thanks

There is no doubt in my mind that Nick and Emmanuel (from the other thread) got Izulas that were not up to par on sharpness. I call bullshit on this one.

I have purchased 9 RC knives N.I.Bag, NONE were ever dull, and purchases made from multiple dealers, every one was sharp, hair popping sharp to be honest. I wonder what dealer he purchased from, just curious :)

I have 6 RC3's and all came Freaking sharp as had all other RAT Cutlery blades, mistakes do happen but I am with Jeff after connecting the name with the Begger
