Due to problems with a couple of people just sending the knife back without any information, we now have a couple of rules that MUST be followed to do any warranty work. Sorry for the inconvenience. See this: http://www.ratcutlery.com/warranty.htm

The last warranty event here made a friend wanting a RC-4 instantly, so it won't take RAT Cutlery down as Zippo isn't down due to promising too much warranty service. You just gain more and more satisfied customers on your way to equip everyone with a RC knife.

Our warranty is sound but some people will send a knife back without any information and we don't know what to do with it. Where to send it back to? What even happened to it, etc.

I wonder how many people will say they cut it in 2 with a cutting torch?

Ok, joking aside, some people really shouldn't abuse their knife just because of a great warranty. I think this makes RAT better that they want to know why the knife broke. (Of course, I think everyone should)

There is this myth floating around that our knives are meant to be abused. That's total bullshit. Even though we warranty abuse of any kind, our idea of abuse is when you have to use your knife abusively when nothing else is around. Not intentionally abusing it. I never have figured people out that just set out to tear up something. Definitely not the type of folks we want in our camp ;)

I agree. Just because you are warranted for it doesn't mean that is what it was meant for! I guess not everyone can be top notch guys like most RAT pack-ians.

Thanks for the great service, Jeff

 You mean I wasn't supposed to give any of my RATs their weekly hammer massage,

Nah I never seen the point of destroying or damaging something just to see what happens, except for on the fourth of July then M80s and firecrackers usually tend to destroy some junk.

You mean not only it didn't occur to them to inform you of the damage before sending the knife in, but also they didn't send any information with it, not even their return adress?

Amazing. That is somewhat like forgetting to hydrate in a survival situation ...

Wow. I couldnt see why anyone really would want to intentionally destroy a RAT knife.
Great tools.

I for one am a bit dissapointed.

All this time I've been telling people that RAT has a "no questions asked" return policy and now I come to find out that you all the sudden start asking people where to return the knife to.

Making me into a liar.:D

German customs liked the warranty card so much, they kept it ...
that kind of warranty is so rare, someone probably puts it up on their wall ...

Oh crap, did I forget to include that info? I was hiking and slipped into a crevasse. I had only my RAT knives at my disposal so I jammed them into some small cracks and used them to climb out. The knives broke under my weight and fell way down there so I rappelled almost 2,000 feet to retrieve them so that I could send them in for warranty replacement. I'll send my address privately so that you can send the replacements. Sound good?

Maybe I'm missing the point of this post?

I'm volunteering to adopt the warranty replacements for the orphaned knives that had no info provided when they were returned. Just trying to do my part to make sure that every RAT has a loving home. :p
