RAT Pack Pouch 1st. Generation

The smallest diameter clevis pins I'm finding in stores are 1/4". They barely fit through the hole in the pack and didn't fit through the hole in my shotgunner sheath for my 6. Double fail.

The small co-op here carries small ones, or at least did the last time I needed one. If you can't find one let me know I'll get one here somewhere I know :)
 
I love this thread, hope it last a while. The pics are great and give some good advice.

Well I can’t wait till the next version of the rat pack so I can join in.
 
Thanks gh, it's functional, comfortable and multipurpose. Never know when some good cordage with come in handy.

I braided up 30Ft. paracord sling for mine yesterday...,post pics in a bit....
Farm supply I think would have it maybe automotive... I got mine from the job ( Aircraft use'em alot)

Nice. Working on kit has honed my braiding and sewing skills, and I’m not afraid to admit it. :D

That looks great Tony, I like the braided shoulder strap a lot. I always carry what some think is "a lot" of cordage...but to me the only thing that's harder to make than good cordage in the woods is a good boiling pot. Here I can find flint and chert to improvise a cutting edge pretty easy but durable cordage would be a pain to say the least.
 
Thanks :thumbup: if I remember correctly it is 2ea. 15ft. pieces woven together. I made it a few months ago. :)
for me it is hard to keep a simple kit well simple... I try to cover all bases and then I need a larger container or bag..... Simple works... but then I feel like I am missing something. :D
 
i want one as soon as they get back in stocck.this forum has proved one thing it makes me reckless wit my funds.seems like every pic i see of esee products my wife says i sound like a kid in a toy store "i want one of those"is commonly heard from me when i'm on here.

heres mine before i changed out the sheath ala ttd. bought a standard esee6 sheath from esee and bolted that in. didnt use the pins as tony did. dont see myself carrying anything but the 6 in this pouch. but the shockcord is no longer necessary...a huge plus here. it carries all the stuff included with kit, along with a patch kit box filled with fishing kit, another filled with pjcbs, duct tape, really basic fak. cant recall everything i stashed in there. its in portland and im in kc right now...tried the paracord sling but the padded shoulder strap works better for me. have every intention of picking up one of the new editions this fall. really dig small grab n go pouches and this is a good one.
 
I know this is an old thread but I'm researching different things on pouchs/bags and came across this one. This looks like it might be a good set up to use to organize some gear inside my rucksack. I know that the ESEE ones no longer exist. Just debating on getting one from lost mountain or waiting for the new ones in the fall from ESEE. I'm just kicking around alot of different ideas as I'm trying to build my pack.
