I mean to tell you guys this thing is awesome ... Mike & Jeff have a winner here,I put some items in it & tossed it in my truck...

I gotta wonder how much crap you have lying around the house that you can just throw a kit together like that.

Well, as long as you know how to use all of it, I'm sure Tony does, that's a good thing to have lying around! You can just take a couple handfuls of stuff and run right out the door.
 
I understand the concept, except the guy's got 547 other kits already!!


He's the kind of guy that will die in [insert disaster] because:
1.) He can't decide which survival kit to survive with and starves to death while trying to choose, OR
2.) He says "screw it" and takes them all, gets bogged down and dies 5 feet out the dor with 6500 pounds of survival stuff.

Looks like a Streamlight Mircrostream you have in there? Got one on my Christmas list for a similar purpose!

Don't let them give you crap, think how much you're saving by buying survival stuff in bulk. You save a lot when you buy paracord by the 1000 foot spool, dang near half price! Which reminds me, why the heck don't you have 25 feet of paracord in there? :D
 
I was thinking on the way home today. Yes, it hurt. It's a long drive so it was a long thought. But It was one of mine, so i'll summarize to avoid people passing out.

There are a variety of PSK styles and sizes, each with their specific place. From the Izlua sized tiny kits that you'll probably never need to use, to full size "i'm going to use everything in this backpack" go bags. The full size kits can afford to make no compromises in quality and weight. Everything else has to pick it's trade-offs for it's place in that "how much might i need this, therefore how much room does it get" chain.

I've never quite liked the bare small minimal kits...most items seemed usable but only barely. The RAT pack looks like it's got the size and setup to take a bare minimal kit, but with slightly larger, higher quality bits and pieces. A 'no compromise minimalist' kit? we'll see when it shows up :)

Also, i can't make fun of anyone stockpiling....i had well over 200 fox 40's at one point. think there's a few left laying around here.
 
LOL :D The RP Pouch is great holds the things you need on you... I thought it would make the perfect grab & go to keep in my Truck,small can be hidden,has a semi low profile to it....
plus I was looking for a kit I could toss my Swiss Champ in...
My wife is on me big time to clean up the 3rd bedroom, Kit components every where,Bags & blades....and things inbetween...;)

Reason no paracord is because I am out of Black cordage,I did not want to add Orange para cord to this kit..
 
If Tony ever gets arrested for some criminal act, the news will be all over him like the UnaBomber. They'll have all his kits strowed out on a table and be calling him an extremist survivalist :D

Naw he's probably got a nuke button for when they come. of course that kind of thing doesnt help with the being labeled extremist..

Good God, if I got popped and they rolled out my ammo (besides herniating 5 or 6 guys doing it) and saw all the stuff I have -- on belts. . .:eek::eek:
