rat pack?

not being arrogant, but what is the big deal with the rat pack? i already own 5 esee knives and my wife was given a pink izula for our anniversery which she edc's in her purse. i already support the best knife making company around today[imho]. why not just let anyone apply for a # ? why so exclusive? i just dont get it. and please dont just give the answer "that if you dont understand then you dont belong." thats just a b.s.answer. Is this my first post on my way to a badge# ? i dont think so. just asking why. and are there any benifits besides making friends on this page,which ive already done.
 
anyone on the forum can apply. the whole point is to keep track of people that contribute regularly to this subforum, and honestly 25 posts in nothing.

you can see i have a lot of posts here, and to clarify it is much more than 500, the search just stops there :D

benefits you may ask?
- i get a sense of satisfaction, nothing life changing but better than a stick in the eye
- there are a lot of contests for free stuff,
- the badge
- it is the internet no one is judging anyone else for not having a number.
 
a lot of contests are available to rp members only. It is just one way of assuring that those who enter the contests are active members of the forum. If you stick around long enough you will see that this forum is about a lot more than just ESEE products.

25 post is not hard ... that is the only requirment ...not so exclusive.....
your post sounds arrogant? most people make it out to be more than it is....
 
I think it's people who aren't pack members yet that think it's more than it really is.

It's what, quadrupled in size in less than a year? Probably largely in part due to the word getting around about contests. We sure don't have 700 contributors in discussions in here.
 
That is part of the down fall.
Everyone lurks and does not contribute and just here long enough to get a RP# for contest and you never hear from them again , a contest is there only post count in the ESEE section... I know ... I look at peoples post counts
 
I wouldn\'t call it \"exclusive\" since internet access and 25 posts in this forum are all that is required. It seems to me that the 25 posts is just a sort of gate keeper that is there to encourage participation on the forum. Sadly, many people get their 25 posts in and then only post in the giveaways.

In the end, it should be remembered that the forum doesn\'t belong to us. Expecting us to play by a few rules in exchange for excellent info, friendship, and generous giveaways is not too much to ask.

Yea, people make it out to be more than it really is. I had plenty of posts before any of it even started, and I was happy as it was. The Rat Pack just gave us a badge, didn't really make us special or anything.
 
please,please,please understand that i am infacuated with the product. i just didnt get the whole rat pack thing. im 46yo and hold a master plumbers lic. so im no dummy or teen kid. i was just asking. and after i read the answers ill be ready to accept the ridicule if and when i apply for a #.
 
i wouldnt call it ridicule, i have seen people dig up old threads and post something to the affect of "cool" " :thumbup: " etc. just make your posts count and have a good time. no one will say "hey its that guy that dared to question the pack!"

Welcome aboard the ESEE band wagon and a few more post ( 25 in ESEE forum) and before you know it you'll have a RP# :D and can enter in the free contest....
and Welcome and congrats on the ones you do own :thumbup:

I'll throw my welcome hurrumph in the mix too! The only ridicule you'll get around here would be for being arrogant or insincere, and I don't get that at all from your note. So relax, sit a spell and start posting. The RP entry fee is very affordable....unless you get addicted to ol' RAT 1095. That's the real danger here.;)
 
the "idea" is that the rat pack numbers just make it easier for mods to organize and handle the contests.....it streamlined the contest process.....Most rat packers are pretty relaxed....

No ridicule from us. We appreciate you trusting us with your knife purchases and for being here. The RP was just a way to get people to participate more in the forums, it is by no means an elitist group. Again, thanks for the question and for being here.
 
Welcome! Enjoy, participate, and contribute to this great forum. Before you know it, you will have more than "25" post in....weather you want a RP#or not.

welcome to the esee forum - owning RAT/ESEE cutlery is not a requirement, having a mindset wanting to learn and share experiences isn't either, but it helps.
the post count thing is just a way to get people to start participating in the hopes they'll continue.
you didn't sound arrogant, no one's making fun of you (yet - we generally wait until we get to know you better), and anything you want to toss in the mix will be welcome, so long as you're not gratuitously rude or arrogant. (with purpose is fine!) :D

come on in, join the fun, and no, you can't borrow the cat suit -- but you can buy some logo undies for your wife.

oh, yeah - B-more has an awesome aquarium!
 
It's fun. Plain and simple.

It's why we do most of the tings we all do.

I enjoy the friendships, contests and discussions. Like-minded people hanging out in the same place.

Nothing wrong with that!
