Rate Your ESEE's

Junglas is the most awesome Esee knife. Just holding it feels better than any other Esee.
It won't be used but a couple times a year but worth it to me

The only one I own is the 5... however (hopefully) for christmas I will be getting the hest folder... and am gonna order an izula as well...
I just wonder how the izula stands up to the swamp rat warden and other neck knives in its price range...

The Izula stands up very favorably. As an only knife I'd prefer the Swamp Warden but as a back up neck knife I like the Izula. It's lighter so I hardly know it's there, and it's thicker so I don't mind abusing it.

I only have 2 ESEEs at the moment.

1. ESEE 3-MIL
2. Izula

I've ordered an ESEE 5, which may displace the Izula as #2, but we shall see. The Izula is in my survival kit, and my ESEE 3-MIL is my new walking-in-the-woods knife. I think the 5 will take the place of my Gerber LMF II as my SHTF or 'have to be ready for anything' knife.

You NEED a dedicated choppa and just think of the size 'o blocks you can baton through!!!!! :D
I'm not sure why you would think that you DON'T need it!!!!

Dammit! Wasn't anything you said in particular, but it's been ordered. Should be here by Friday I guess. Damn, my credit card company is lovin' me right now.

This ESEE kool-aid is some strong stuff. :D

I plan on going camping soon. The Junglas will be going with me. I'm sure it will also make a handy anti-zombie weapon give the time of year...lol!!

kinda hard to rate since i just have 2 :D

1. ESEE3
2 izula

i like my izula plenty, but i like the 3 so much i want to pick up a second one eventually.

Funny you say that, in my rating the three was last BUT the izzy and the 3 are the ONLY ESEE's I want multiples of. Guess I like my three MORE than I thought!!! :o

Wow, tough call.

1. 6
2. Izula
3. 4

Have to give the 6 the top spot. It is the knife that got me looking at Rat/ESEE knives in the first place. Of the three it is the one that feels the best in my hand. Izula gets the second spot because it is the one that gets the most use (also the first one i purchased). The 4 is pretty new so i haven't got to use it that much yet, but the handles are a bit short for my hand.

Love them all though, and sure they won't be my last ones!

ok, ok. I've had time to think about this, and I need to make 2 lists.

Everyday life:

1) ESEE-4
2) IZULA
3) ESEE-6

Outdoors Life:

1) ESEE-4
2) ESEE-6
3) IZULA

The ESEE-3MIL is in the mail and I'll need some time with it to see where it fits into the lists and the IZULA II is pre-ordered so I'll have to see where that fits in as well.

Well.... ummmm...

1) Izula/RC-3/HEST
2) Anything not ESEE

:)

Seriously between the three I own, I find them pretty much interchangeable, but I use the 3 the most.. or did until I got scales for the Izula. I love them all, and I really don't care which one I have, as long as I have one of them... if that makes sense..

Cool thread, you know I don't know if we've done this, at least not in the last year. Kind of tough but I'd say.

4 - the one that started it all and most versatile
3MIL - just a good looking knife that is just the right size for most tasks when you don't need the 3/16" thickness of the 4.
6 in the old style pack kit - for larger batoning tasks, etc. and the pack allows me to carry the basics.
Izula - least used but I'm trying to like it more. I always go to a folder or a larger FB
Lite Machete - it's just a machete, but the scales are nice and I use it a fair amount

For me it would be listed as such
1. 3
2. lite machete
3. 6
4. Izula
5. 4
6.Junglas
7. 5
8. HEST
9. AH1

I think I got 'em all :D

LIKE list:
1) HEST - great design!
2) 5 - built like a tank
3) Izula - simply + elegant

CARRY list (frequency of carry/use):
1) Izula - disappears until needed
2) 5 - my TEOTWAWKI knife
3) HEST - hangs out in my go-bag, but completes my "Mad Max Combo" (5+HEST)

for me its

1) 6
2) hest
3) junglas
4) 3mil
5) izula
6) 4

i use the 6 the most for camping and hunting, i use the hest for everyday carry around the farm. the junglas is the most useful hunting and hiking in heavy woods, 3mil is the best for camp chores and food prep. the izula is just handy but i usually have a pocket knife to take care of small chores, and the 4 is good if i want to go lighter.

take it easy

1. DPx HEST
2. RC5
3. Rat Pack RC3

Though on a scale of 1-10, the HEST would be 10, the RC5 9.8 and the RC3 about a 3.
