I went with master :)

I have a well rounded knowledge of knives, stones, steels, makers, designs and history. I am also a professional sharpener at the Phoenix Knife House, so cutlery is my life, profession, and passion.

Thanks everyone - last bump......

I really couldn't answer that, the test of how well I know knives and everything that encompasses them is best determined by how quickly I convince the other people that I'm right and they're wrong.

The flip side to that is having been in the trades as a mechanic/fabricator/machinist, as materials and technology advances and change I know I'll always be learning and I try to learn something from everybody, cause in the end aren't we all just the sum total of all the things we've learned seasoned by the people we've learned from?

Relative to this community I'll go with 6, "I'm getting even better" I've been here for a pretty long time and know and respect a lot of very knowledgeable members here and I find it hard to believe anyone would consider themselves a master.

My Old Man used to say, "...if ya gotta tell everyone how good ya are, ya probably ain't."

I honestly can say I'm a 3 or a 4. I have a modest accumulation and I can only sharpen worth a dang with a guided system.

Hope to keep learning though. :D

I think being a chef helps greatly.

Using a knife 8 hours a day for almost 10 years certainly improves hand skill.

but my goal is to be able to forge my own.
