I have been reading watching and studying these forums for months.....I have learned a lot ......Just want to hear your arguments about which is a better deal ... Keep in mind there is only an 80.00 differance ......I will order one or the other today after reading your comments....Thanks guys. :)

I would go with the Ratweiler. Indeed, the research is what I based my purchase on though I haven't received it yet.

Is there anybody out there that owns both of these?

Yes, I believe there is- I am not them. I dont own either blade, although I do have some Swamp Rats. Either knife is undoubtedly good, but Personally I would lean towards the ratweiler. Better steel, and there is high demand, so in the unlikely event you dont like it, it will sell almost immediately. just my biased opinion

I Have a RD7 don't have a SR but I don't think you can go wrong with either. The are but extremly tough. The only thing SR has over the Ranger is edge-holding. Not that the RD7 is a slouch at that though. But the RD7 cost much less. Warrantys are the same lifetime, no ? asked. Just go with whatever one you want.

Swamp Rat. Just bought another one.

If you don't go with a Rat, you might be a communist. :D :D

I have owned both and gotta say it really comes down to which design you prefer. Both are gonna be excellent knives and both are definitely backed up by their makers. I prefer the grip of the Ratweiler myself because I like the larger grip. Have fun with your choice :)

I own both knives, and either knife is a great go heavy blade.

I prefer the Ratweiler, because of the handle shape, better heat treatment (differential tempering), and better fit and finish.

Keep in mind that the Ranger comes with a sheath, and that the Ratweiler sheath is extra. I have a factory sheath, and a Dwayne Puckett leather/kydex fusion sheath, for the Ratweiler.

I have to say, both knives are great. I ordered a Ratweiler, but have yet to receie it and it's been over 3 weeks. All I can imagine is that they are out of stock. Anyway, I will have to check. I also Ordered an RD7 and it is an awesome knife. It looks something akin to older Busse or Fehrman but using 5160 which is an extremely tough steel . Justin is also a great guy to deal with. so in conclusion...

GET BOTH!!!

Yeah but look at the cool selection you get with the Ranger Knives. :D

You should offer mismatching scales, while being a fairly striking conversation piece it would also have a higher visibly print as you see contrast most highly. Plus no one else does it so you would be the first.

I`ve heard nothing bad about Ranger. Same thing with Swamp Rat. Although, if you`re going to get a Rat, you going to get addicted and go poor and eventually you get hooked on Busses too. Theres nothing bad about getting the addiction but I don`t know from experience, I`ve just heard about it numerous times, am I right??? GET BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!

Are emersons any good???? I wanted to know because I`ve heard they`re good and I`ve they`re bad and overrated. Heard the same thing about Strider.

Ya know I've always wondered if these guys apprenticed at Busse. Both the Fehrmans and Rangers DO look like the older Busse's. It just could be that great minds think alike, but Busse did use 5160 for his apprentice blades.

They remind me of the old straight handles, but I'll keep my INFI, thank you, especially the straight handled INFI.
