Ravens Cliffs Falls

Great pictures Runsalone! I'm GA bound after a little trip to Afghanistan...we're planning on being back in Augusta for Christmas. We did a bunch of camping and backpacking on the east side in the mountains. I really want get up to the Helen part of the Chattahoochee...I'll bring my 4x4:D

Our first backpacking trip was Panther Creek (there's a kitchen sink in my pack:eek:):

Texas has been great...but I miss the green!

Runs - That looks like a great time!

Rock - I see you're still wearing that Winnebago on your back! Let us know before you go...

Great trail. It can be a little busy on weekends though. Great pics, thanks for sharing:thumbup:

Love my family, but there's nothing like some alone time in the forest.
Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I frequent Raven Cliffs all the time. Great to see you enjoyed it. I love that hike. I did some survival training there. Here are a few shots I took from there while in the field. Some of my best photography came from Raven Cliffs.

Thanks so much for sharing that. I have an aunt and uncle who have a cabin in Helen that the wife and I like to go and stay at. Guess I found what we're doing the next time we're there. Looks beautiful and not too strenuous for us desk jockies.

If my Fat *$$ can do it anybody can!:o:D

No not strenuous at all. Ive used it for a trail to introduce folks to hiking who have never been. About 5 miles, perfect for a relaxing day hike.

Theres also Dukes Creek falls on the left a mile or two before Raven Cliffs. Up into the mountains just before unicoi gap, theres a fairly passable forest service road that will take you to horse trough falls which is a very short hike but a very beautiful area. Of course theres always the A.T., Rocky mountain, Tray mountain, Brasstown Bald (Go see that, its AWESOME) and the chattahoochee headwaters.

Lots of places to explore around that area:D:thumbup:

Go ahead, rub it in. I had soooo much fun at work today while you suffered through that.

It hit 94 today, and I could see the snow on the Sierras. Wish I could have gotten out.

Ha! Yeah...that Winnebago has a different mission now. I just upgraded (downgraded?) to a Gregory z65...I like lighter:D Plus the kids have thier own packs and can carry their own necessities...me and the wife just split the majority of the food so I'm enjoying the treks instead of feeling like the mule;)
