I ordered a Scagel style folder from Mr. Kirk a while back. It came with CA buckeye burl scales, and was the first one with his MS stamp :D Well, after a while, the lovely twists and curls of the grain developed some checks/small cracks around the NS pins. I contacted Ray, sent it in, and received the knife back in short order with brand new scales with his newer torx screw attachment method. No charge for the work, materials, or return shipping:cool:

Well, I recently took notice of his Raker Ring Tool. Having the folder in 52100, I ordered a RRT in the same steel. The paypal order was made laaaate Sunday night, and I had a package from OK today. Inside was the 52100 RRT, Ray's card... and a 440C RRT with a hand-written note letting me know that he was giving me a freebie, which he does on occasion.

You guys let me know if you find a maker who does it better. I won't hold my breath;)

Ray is an outstanding maker and human being. I'm glad to see him making knives again, I know his wife was sick with cancer and I hope she is still doing ok. As for his ring tools, they are top notch. I have, or should say had, one of his Damascus tools and it was great, then the wife decided she liked it and took it from me.

Ray is as good as they come. Period.

A great maker, a great friend.
