RC-5: It's Not Just for SERE

Yeah, but you like the Amazon jungle, Jeff. Come down here in Summer and camp down in the Altamaha swamps. You'll feel right at home. :D

BTW: That RC-5 has turned out to be quite a camp knife. Don't tell the Marines about it, or they'll want one, too. Even a jarhead wouldn't break an RC-5.

Don't sell us short. The Marines can break anything trust me it's what we do.
But the knife does sound impressive.

I didn't say they couldn't break it. I have spent considerable time among Marines. If ever there was a knife built for Marines, the RC-5 is it. It does make me wonder about those AF SERE guys a bit.

I have never considered it a matter of pride to be able to break things.

Great knife and great pics as always, Vic. And congrats to Bonnie. You and she have a lot to be proud of.

One of these days, I'd love to see a comparo of the RC-5 and the BK-2. They appear to be virtually interchangeable. But I won't know that for a fact until someone actually puts them through their paces side-by-side. And who better to do that than you?

(PS: For those who aren't aware, Vic's comparo tests are legendary over at the Scrap Yard Forum.  )

I don't have a BK-2 but I have sharpened a few for folks. It is very similar to the RC-5, but I prefer the micarta handles on the RAT. I would expect similar performance. Beckers are good knives, too.

I wouldn't say it's a pride thing it's just how things tend to go. We don't try to break things on purpose, we just have a nack for finding the weakest point in most products. :)
