RC-5 Pass Around Rules and sign-up Thread!!!

I didn't have alot of time to play today; but I had a White cedar hearth board and drill, as well as a kick ass sharpened bowdrill socket so what the hell.

First I cut out a divit. Piece of cake...

Then I burned in the hole

Next the notch.

Gotta make that funnel, to help the coal form.

It took some time for me to get use to my new socket, but in the end it did the job.

Not so pretty anymore eh..

More to come

I recently recieved another knife, so for the hell of it I brought that out as well.

First I made a quick fuzzy with the RC-5. It did ok, but again I think a thinning the edge will help out alot.

Then with the same piece of maple, I used the SAR-5. If you think the RC-5 has a thick edge, try the SAR-5...

I like the edge geometry alot better on the RC-5, and the tip is alot pointier also.

I went and put the SAR away, and proceeded to do just a couple more basic things.

Thr RC-5 easily handled the tasks. This is no Bushcraft knife; so don't pick it up and expect it to whittle wood or cut like a smaller scandi, but overall I like this knife alot. If this was the only tool I had in a survival situation I am pretty sure I would break down before this knife would. Great Job Rat Cutlery, you made another fine knife. When I get to use this knife more, I may come back with some more thoughts. Till then, cheers fellas.

Thanks bro, it is a fun knife to use!

Jeff or Mike, will prolonged use of the bow drill divot hurt the micarta at all? I noticed it got a lil hot, and definately stained, but the the hole remained the same size; just wondering....

I sent you an e-mail. If there is a slot left, let me know. Thanks for the review everyone. Looks like a great knife!

Well guys, the knife came in today from Derrick and I have some bad news.

The passaround is off.........

I'm keeping this thing. Sorry, just can't give it up, it's way too sweet.

I'm just joking, but this thing is beautiful. Great feel. Same handle shape as the RC-6, but a completely different feel due to the blade thickness and heft.

It's really not that bad of a cutter either. It was slicing pretty little rivulets if computer paper right out of the box.

Nicely done serrations, I'm not a fan of them, but on this knife and it's intended purpose, they make sense.

I'll be shipping it the day after tomorrow to the first person on the list, who will be devulged tomorrow.

Sweet! I can't wait. I'm glad it's serrated as I don't yet have any serrated rats. Let's get this thing going. Thanks again to Derrick at knives ship free and Shotgunner!

I can't wait to try this out. This will be first time I have held a rat knife and I really want to see what its all about then I can buy my own ;)

The shipping order has been posted and the list is now closed.

The knife will be going out to Mr. Johnspark tomorrow.

I tried to set it up so nobody has to ship further than needed.

Last guy on the list will be shipping to the winner of the drawing for the knife.

Thanks Guys.

I just got in from work, and guess what? I found a big azz Rat at my door!

First impressions are very good indeed. It's a heavy brute for sure. I'll bet it'd knock the snot out of someone if need be. I have a very busy week, but I'll do my best to do a review and get this thing moving on down the road soon.

Thanks for letting me play along...
