RC-5 SERE - OD and Black photo

Same word I've heard so far. Just chompin af the bit. I'm hoping I can fiot both my falkniven DC4 sharpener and a multi tool in the pouch. It would make a hell of a kit if it works.

I'd like to see a kydex sheath option as well. I'll probably have someone make me one. But then I'd have to be without the knife again.

I am really torn on my first RAT knife, I was almost sold on the RC-4 till I saw these pics. I intend to use this for hike/camp trips and other multitasking, like the features of both. Would one make more sense? Full ground vs half height a huge difference? Thanks.

get both.., lol, someone was going to say it, might as well be me!

but seriously, I think whichever one you choose would serve you quite well. I'd say go for the RC-4 for now because it's fairly unlikely you'll get on the list for the first shipment of RC-5's as I'm pretty sure they're mostly full up by now.

RC-4 would be your best bet. I doubt I will ever even use an RC-5 on a regular basis. Just not my style and I don't know anything in the woods that I can't do with the RC-4. I'm a cutting efficiency type of user and just not the sharpened prybar type. To each his own though. If I was flying a chopper every day then the 5 would be in there. I think the 5 is going to make a good heavy-duty knife to throw in your vehicle, whether it's a Blackhawk or a Chevrolet ;)

Now, if they just come out with the RC TAK (RC-6 handle on an RC4 blade), that'll muddy the waters a bit more. . .:D

I totally agree, I would love to see the RC-4 blade with either the RC-5 or 6 handle, any possibilities for the future maybe? :)

Jether You'll love that tan RC4. I picked one up and it has become my EDC blade.

My RC5 will mainly serve as a backup or extreme use blade, plus with the sheath it can become a type of mini kit. However the RC$ is capable of nearly every task I usualy encounter in the hills and the weight is much more agreeable.

The RC$'s handling characteristics will also make it much more useable for bushcraft and general pupose uses.

It will be a LONG way down the line if we build a TAK.

I'd much rather have to squirm anxiously awaiting it than to have it show up not meet the standard.

Truth is, if Jeff sent me a spray painted plastic replica of the RC-5, it would probably hold me over until the real one ships out.

you know what, I think I'm going to go make a cardboard one.
