You are missing my point here.
A reasonable business person understands the economies of scale. There has to be a point where the number produced/ordered is most economical. Especially when extras are being included, like numbering, special screws and the like.
See, only making "x" number, based on pre-orders, might not mean the individual cost is most economical, therefore the unit cost will be higher for the buyer/Rat Pack member.
And, that additional cost can impact the number of orders.
Some will pay more to have the uniqueness, some will not be able to justify any additional cost over a standard model.
Jeff, is there a target number you would like to see in this run?
Les, I think your missing the point.
Were not concerned with profit margins, economies of scale nor popularity with this project. Were concerned with what the majority of the RAT pack members desire.
We've already boiled it down to the lowest common denominator, using stock and standard RC parts will keep the price attractive. Shon is adding in some extra's to make it even more special.
Were being sold the knives at a price that allows RAT and Rowen to not LOSE money. They're not concerned with making anything off of this, it's a favor.
If RAT offered up a pink coated blade with orange scales and green liners and thats what the pack members chose, thats what RAT would make regardless of the complete and total unsellability of the finished product.
