Reaching a stopping point

So it's finally happened, I have reached a point in my collection where I honestly don't see the point in buying anything else. I've finally got my rotation to a point where I think I could be set for life, it covers all of my needs. I have flippers, spydie holes, thumb studs, traditionals, super steels, bearings, washers, CF, micarta, TI, overbuilt tanks and slicing machines. Everything an enthusiast could ask for, all covered in 7 knives.

Adding anything else at this point just feels excessive. Maybe I'm just getting jaded? What do you guys think? Anyone else hit a "wall" before? How long did it take you to get back into it?

Here's my rotation. I've got about 12 other cheaper knives from when I first got into this but they sit in a box.

That is fantastic.......enjoy the feeling for awhile.......you are just in remission. :p But if you can get some enjoyment and experiment, practice skills, and learn what it is you like about each one, and take them out for an adventure, then you have enjoyed the hobby in a new and exciting way. I am slightly envious you can reach that point.

I do not see any fixed blades ( I am sure you do have some ), so I have a mini challenge for you.....combine your EDC folders with a fixed blade and see what combination would make a good combo...or Nesmuk Trio. I also have been meaning to do something like that also, so I can rediscover what it is I like about some of my earlier knives, something different, and maybe avoid buying more...I have way, way too many than I could ever need. But the symptoms keep coming back. :D

I hit a wall some time ago, but I got better.

No yeah, I was done with buying knives, but then something real cool came along, can't remember what, and I was back.

Having a break again now, saving up for a Hinderer and a 940. Keep telling myself I'll be done after that, but probably wont.

Good on you though.

I'm about to the same point. A CPK inkosi arrives this week, making a total of 5 including a Shiro, 2 Spydies, and a Hinderer slipjoint. There are a few (maybe 2) out there that have my attention, but I find I don't want one of them any more than one of my current set, so I pass.

My focus now will be different sharpening techniques and edge finishes (toothy vs. polished) to see what performes the way i want. Sharpening is free now that i have a good setup.

Maybe look into some nice kitchen knives? ;)
I've definitely overlooked kitchen cutlery, but I'm still in college so I don't really cook. One day I'll get myself a nice kitchen set, just not yet. Maybe something in damascus? Hmmmm

... um, I don't see any fixed blades, (blindspot??)... better get back to collecting a bit = D
I got you ;) Here's my token fixed blade. Don't really carry it that much but I still enjoy it

I’m at the wall too OP.

Every time something new catches my eye, I reflect on what I already have and my desire to acquire more diminishes.

I’m close to the point of scaling back and refining...but not quite yet. :D

Happened to me, about three months ago.

I got into modern traditionals. Now, I have almost three hundred dollars of production knives sitting in various shopping carts.

I was done too.... until I stopped by the Spyderco booth today at the NRA Convention. Damn you Ikuchi.

But at least my knife collection is done now since i didnt have a knife named after a Japanese sea monster and I quickly realized I had a gaping hole in my collection.

Thanks to Spyderco, hobby complete!
