For the last two weeks, I have been out in the shop at 5AM before going to the jewelry store, and out until 9PM after work. Weekends have been all day work-fests. I took today off and hit the shop at 6AM. At 8:30 tonight all the new knives are done ... all 90 of them. 30 filet knives 30 hunting knives, 10 culinary knives, and 20 oyster knives.

On top of the knives, I have finished a lot of turning projects. Pens, screwdrivers, bottle openers, and razor handles. The razor handles ( Trac-3 and Fusion) have pre-sold very well. Hopefully, I will have some left by Friday. If not, I will be out in the shop early and late again to fill Christmas orders.

I am finally ready for the private show this Friday at the store. I found out today that the store owner has put my knife show on her TV adds all this week. I knew it was on the website and Facebook, but this was a pleasant surprise.

I took a lunch break and brought some of the finished knives by a friends BBQ restaurant today. A customer came over to look. Five minutes later he had bought three of the knives I brought. Another customer came over and asked where the show was. I told him, and he said he and a knife-nut buddy would be there with plenty of money. A dealer who buys a lot of my knives called and said he wanted to come by Friday before the show opened. I told him we open at 10AM, and he was welcome to be the first guy through the door.

Wowsers, that's quite the work-load, you truly have been one extremely busy individual. The surprise television exposure is super cool, it's not everyday the knife community gets air time like that. This is definitely the perfect time of year for such a show in that setting, and it's great that the selling has already started. I wish you lots of success with sales, my friend.

Stacy looks like we've been hanging out and drinking Islay's again. This group and their knives shipped yesterday morning. the first half of the batch shipped Monday.

Difference s I don't have a day job too. You've been busy. Gool luck at the show. Slangevar!

Good on you Stacy, I for one so appreciate your support on this forum--you deserve to sell all you have made very quickly--Kudo's for making it happen in between life and another job!

Best to you--Don

Good luck at the show Stacy. Looking forward to some pics. You know what they say, pics or it didn't happen. ;)

I'll just bet you had a great show !!! Seems to me every year is better than the last one !!! Congratulations !
Frank

I took some photos, but haven't taken them off the camera yet. The show was superb. I did right at $3,000.00. About 45% hunters, 45% fillet, 5% kitchen, and 5% turned items ( razor handles and pens).

Sounds like it went well for you. Can't wait to see your pics. We had our annual wood turning club sales last weekend and it was very well attended for the weekend. I just need to figure out how to add wood turning to my knives so I can sell them there as well.

Robert,
I turn the handles on some sgian dubh as well as oyster knives.

Dagger handles can be turned to profile and then flattened on the sides to the correct oval cross section. This assures even sides and guard curvature.

Stacy, sorry I missed this thread. Being local it really hurts... Glad to hear you are happy with the results. Interesting with the oyster knives and the article about the Lynnhaven oyster fishery on today's Pilot headline.
