Hey guys, I need your help finding the perfect "overbuilt" folder for me.

Here are the specs I'm looking for.

Blade thickness ≥ .20"

Handle thickness ≥ .60"

Blade length of at least 3". Preferably close to 4" than 3". 4"+ is great too.

Framelock

≤$700

I don't want this to be a custom per se. I want it to be something that I decide on and can order the next day. No two year waiting lists for me!

Thanks!

Benchmade Vicar?
It's next on my list.

My overbuilt folder is a Benchmade Adamas.

I have a Benchmade problem.

Why would you desire a framelock if you are willing to spend that much? Why not purchase a knife with lock strength more proportional to blade strength?

ADV Butcher, not sure if it matches your thickness specs exactly but it is overbuilt and it is a framelock

LionSteel SR1?
- "Monolithic" handle (milled from single piece of titanium)
- "RotoBlock" (rotating/screw-down lockbar stabilizer)
Blade thickness: .18" (close)
Handle thickness: .57" (close)
Blade length: 3.7"

Strider SMF would be a good choice. It's thick but can still cut well.

Really though if your looking for pure strength, I'd look at a different lock like the triad lock.

Reate Horizon series or the Reate District 9 series? ZT 0301? BM Contego? Cold steel Large (there are many CS large models but I prefer the...) Espada. ZT 0562, everyone should own at least one. CRKT Mah eraser, an inexpensive and exquisitely built knife, look up the reviews on youtube for it. I love mine, but I wish the F&F was a tad better. That is where the big Brous blades come in, the Division (I happen to have a cf for sale now) and the T4 and reloader. I have the T4 and love it, fits in my hand perfect and that's my favorite blade of any knife I own right now. Besides my CS lg Espada that is.

Two immediately come to mind. Have owned both for a while:

Grayman folders
DPx HEST 2.0 folders (by LionSteel)

Wild Steer WX

On your budget though, you can go up from there.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! As far as choosing a frame lock over stronger lock types, this knife won't be used hard. Just cardboard boxes, carpet, and rope at my job. I just like big, beefy folders. The same way some people like muscle cars over more svelte exotics.

I haven't gone through your suggestions yet, but here are some knives I'm considering.

Red Horse Chopper
Red Horse War Pig
Dendra Tiger Jump
Hoback Kwaiback Mid-Tech

How about a Jeremy Robertson El Patron? Technically it's a custom but they are readily available.

I am going to suggest an Emerson knife. Is it over built? Maybe not. But it's built tough and you can get them in plus sizes. I would at least check Emerson out. The pictures don't do the knives justice. They are so solid in hand.

Maybe a Spyderco Vallotton? Even though it's a liner lock, it's worth a look, imo. Meets most of your criteria and well under budget

Good luck, OP! :)

I know you said framelock but you described the large HK Axis to a T.

Lucky for you Chris, you can head down to BladeHQ and handle some of these.. You may change your mind when it's in your hand.
Let us know what you get!
