Real excited about the new BCCI 110!!

I think $80 for a Buck LE 110 of any kind is a good deal!

I think any Buck drop point S30V 110 for $80. is a great deal. I wouldn't call it a "limited edition" when you can order an unlimited quantity, but it is certainly a "special edition". :)

I called it a LE, because the order form says "black leather sheath and Buck Limited Edition Box". I've got a bunch of "LE's" that I'm sure were made in much larger numbers than these will be. I could be wrong, but since the ordering is limited to BCCI members, I'll bet there's less than 1K made.:) At least I hope so. :p

Plumber, I think your correct . Also, Gordon had a point where he was going in his post a few mornings back . That we could order as many as we wanted . Normally, the club members will buy less than 200 of any model offered making them a very limited edition and some of the past club knives are still available now . But our board members got us all we wanted at a good price and Buck agreed . How nice of them ! So, some extras may be headed to the custom shop . Who knows ! This could be like the first run but I really don't know . We'll just have to wait and see . Still, if you want one don't wait . DM

My understanding is that we have a while to place the order, as long as BCCI receives it by August 16. I'm waiting to figure out exactly how many I want to order. I don't think they will make the knives until the orders are tallied after the August 16th deadline.

On "limited edition", it's all in how you define it. In the traditional publishing world (my background) a limited edition is a small press run of a set predetermined number. All the plates and flats are then destroyed and no additional copies are ever made. Each copy is assigned a specific number (more like the BCCI yearly offering with the gold etch logo).

When the ultimate buyers are allowed to place orders in advance it is referred to as a subscription (of however many copies) and not a limited edition if the buyers (subscribers) determine the number produced and can order an unlimited number of copies. The number of orders determine the production run rather than a preset number being determined in advance by the publisher.

Of course, this may not apply to the knife making world anyway, so there is really no argument. The bottom line is that this is a great deal and I'm glad to be a BCCI member. Check that, I'm proud to be a BCCI member! :D

I would love to have one or two of these. How do I join BCCI? Do I need a sponsor? Am I understanding this correctly that members have until 8/16/10 to order this knife and that Buck won't start manufacture until after that date? If so approximately how long would, based on past offerings will it take after 8/16 to get the order? TIA

The BCCI application is here in post #2: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229969

Just complete the application, enclose the fee and mail it off.

Delivery is estimated for this December.

When I joined I sent my application with an order for a knife that I had admired, it was on the BCCI table, while attending the Oregon Knife Collectors Association annual meeting last April. I received the knife and then later the membership documentation.

One giant benefit of membership is the full-sized 2010 Dealer Catalog I received. I keep it handy.

Badhammer, we always need more BCCI members... Welcome to the Buck Collectors Club... Oregon, would be a great sponsor for you...

Yeah its pretty much unanimous what everyone has told me. My only issue is going to be rationing by Buck bucks properly to get the Club offerings.:D

We all have that issue.... :D

I am still debating if I "need" 2 of the Paperstone 110's or not :D
