"Real Mean Carry Slippies"

I guess while we're on the subject, what type of slip-joints would you like to see from Spyderco?

sal

A carbon fiber gunstock with a 3" blade, conventional nail nick, ano'd Ti liners and a damascus or pearl Spyder escutcheon. Yeah, I know, the idea of that pattern in CF is kinda crazy but it's the first thing that popped into my head.

Mini Diad, stainless steel liner and integral bolsters, swell center, ebony scales, pinned spyderco shield, 440C. Price $150.

i would like to see a byrd version of the dyad....which, from what you described, sounds like your making...i just can't bring myself to use my dyad knowing theres not so many around....Vivi's knife design looks alot like the Yojimbo, which from what i hear was a good knife but i doubt it'll be reproduced....i would like a cheap slipjoint basically and sal's been in this buisness a while i trust he'll bring out something amazing

A byrd dyad would be sweet! I keep finding myself tempted to get the double-bladed Gerber since its the only semi-half-not-total-crap one in regular production and readily available. I would jump on a byrd dyad.

I would also love byrd version(s) of the dyad both the original full size and the original mini dyad. I lost my frn mini Dyad and have been pining for one (or 6) ever since.
The new limited micro jigged bone Dyad looked sweet but was way too small for my needs.

Guaranteed I would buy three mini Byrd Dyads one to carry, and two as spares!

Hi Brownshoe,

Integral bolsters in Seki are usually two slabs welded together, really not integral but perform the same. Why 440C? We'd probably use VG-10. Pinned Spyderco shield might be difficult, we'd have to check. Could be a very classy piece. No clip?

Hi Jujigatame,

That would be really expensive, custom piece.

I would love to see the jester reproduced as a slipjoint with jigged bone scales.

-Real men carry knives, kids carry ninja tactical knives from the mall or worse... gas stations.
-I carry a Falk. U2 in certain situations when a pocket clip would be too conspicuous. I got nothing against slippies I just don't see the need unless there are legality issues.
-My Spydie would have a Dyad main blade (locking?) and then two slippy blades... since we are wishing the blades would be a Dyad + Warnie + Doctors Spatula (opens downward vs the opposed dyad and warnie). Pen style clip which is part of the bolsters (not reversable). Solid colored micarta handles.

Stockman in BOTH VG 10 and ZDP 189!!!! Whoooo Hoooo!!!! Same size as the Queen large (not the Cattle King), with round bolsters!

A 3" Byrd with a Wharnie and a clip point would be very welcome. Jigged red bone would be the icing.

that byrd two blade slippie (or notch joint) sounds great. I assume it's plain stainless, or will it have scales?

I'm not sure if this would be applicable, but I'd like to see linen micarta scales, whatever color(s) would be popular. I'd prefer dark brown(?), green, or black.

I like the smooth bone, maybe in a light golden color. Or possibly paper micarta, dark purple, or natural white, If it's wear resistant enough. wild boar ivory, would really be cool. or a subdued fiber Damascus

I might like to see a thin blade kind of like the c25 but not quite as pointy. possibly backed up by a small stout heavily rounded blade. a single zdp blade would make it probably the most technically advanced non-custom slip joint ever made. may be a good niche. although 3v to make a tough yet thin blade would be my favorite. if that actually works out in principle

I can't wait to see the Urban.... If the spring is as "stout" as the one on the UKPK....it'll be awesome..... heck I trust the solid lockup of my UKPK more than most "other" linerlocks .... :p
I can't recall the size of the Urban but a slipjoint around the size of the Pride, clipless , with different scales of (exotic?) wood such as D.ironwood, cocobolo, bubinga would be lovely... :)

Today I carried a byrd "notch-joint". 2 bladed (one plain semi-warnie, one fully serrated sheepsfoot). 2-3/4" blade length. Called Wings 70mm. Mine is a proto, production planned for early next year.

That sounds very interesting! Please do keep us posted on that one when it is an appropriate time to show pics of it. Sounds like quite a useful little knife.
