Real Pocketworn Knives

A new to me, very old, smooth bone Jack.
Also, one in ebony (or cocobolo?) that someone liked enough to scribe their name on it.

Cool oldies! Here’s an old pruner from San AntoneIMG_5972.jpeg

Not as old or as magnificent as many other stunning examples here. But this 1965 Case 6265 SAB Folding Hunter caught my eye on the big auction site. I pounced on it largely because it looked well cared for, but it also showed it was likely carried for a very long time. The 'Stamina Wood' laminate shows a lot of burnishing, as did the bolsters, which had many scratches hinting it might've been riding in a pocket with keys, coins, etc. Some of that had been polished out before I received it, but hints of it still remain and I have no desire to clean it up any further. I think aesthetically, it's likely my favorite traditional knife for all these reasons. I found a bonus too, in how beautifully the blades sharpened up when I put my own edges on them. Great steel in this one.

Orange? Isn’t it a tangelo? I have a tangelo tree in my yard and the tangelos are ready now. I can walk out my back door and get my fill of fresh citrus. I have three Valencia orange trees in my yard and they won’t be ready to eat for several months.

You are fortunate to live in a citrus zone!! And yes, it's called a tangerine here!! Easy to peel!!
