ok theres Grab and go and theres your setup. Grab and live! I am coming to you if S@*t hits the fan! I have a tiny setup but I really need to get serious about it. Some great Info on this thread.

LoL... i have 3 bags almost exactly like that one, a full sized duffel of the 3600 cal meal bars, and i have 3 full size duffels full of MREs

I also have 30 boxes of Ramen noodles (600 servings), and 5 5-gallon water bottles.

i hope i never need em, but i can live in my house without walking outside ONCE for 2 weeks...much longer if i manage to get my bathtub full of water before the power goes out.

Ya I have cases of Ramen al two 55gal barrels full of water.
Oil lamps and wood stove.

I need to get a better setup! For grab and go. Ours looks good. Might borrow some Ideas from you.

IMHO, those ER bars are awesome... you can't carry 7200 calories in a package that compact with anything else.

They're actually very cheap too

I like the esee pouch and backs a lot and have seen a few set up on non esee knives on kydex. How do they mount up? Do you need a kydex sheath made to accept them for lets say a sarge 7?

Im having godspeed build me a sheath to go with my rmd that will carry the esee 6 back and pouch. Get ahold of him he can make you a sheath for any knife that will match up to a 6 back and pouch

i just went by Hobby Lobby and bought some of the high tension snaps that they sell then sewed them directly on the side of my pack. it operates exactly the same as MOLLE, and i didn't have to spend 200+ buying another high quality pack

You just need the rivets set at 1 1/2 inch centers i think, I usually just mark where to put them when I make one. The backs and pouches are attached with screws through the rivets, they come with the hardware. The only thing to be aware of is the width of the blade. Just need to make sure its not wider than the pouch or back. I don't think the sarge 7 is too wide. I've used them with the team gemini and hell razor with no problems.

Very interesting...

I was gearing this thread more towards compact stuff in/on knife sheaths for 'just in case you get stuck in the woods', not full-tilt grid-crashing world disorder Bug Out Bags...

Having said that, fire away fellas, its all good.

And for the trail, Cliff bars are pretty good for short trips...a couple in your pocket can go a long way...

The Sarge7 is the same width as a SAR6 & the Esee pouch & back fit it just fine!

Of all the posts, I look forward to the ones from PeterPHWS the most.
As far as foldable pots that can boil water, the only one I could find is from a start-up company called "Hexa Pot"
It's a disposable coated paper that can boil water!

The Hexa Pot is an interesting product but it is limited to "one use" ... what you need in a survival situation is "multiple use" ... the sort of thing I had in mind is something like this ...

Here is the link to their website ...

They have a large catalogue of Tin Foil Pans ... intended for Pies ... but with a bit of careful folding and selecting the right size you have a pot which can be tucked away in a small pouch and unfolded will boil enough water to have a generous drink ... carry a few rubber bands ( the sort the postman sometimes use to gather all your mail in one bundle ) and practise whittling two pot grabbers using the elastic bands as a hinge ... basically two sticks whittled to be hook nosed pliers ... so you can grab the pot either side and lift it out of the embers ... or you can experiment with green sticks and whittle a loop to fit around the lip ...

These are very cheap and you can easily buy a few to practise with ... make a lid for the pot out of another one and your water will boil much quicker ...

I prefer the pie size above for cooking and making my own lid and then whittling a loop and handle to enable me to drink from it like a cup when the water is hot. Pine leaf tea from these is really nice.

LOL ... you need to keep your knife handy at all times though when you pull this out of your pouch and see the looks of envy from other guys on the survival course who have'nt got one and are looking at their altoids tin in dismay ... :D

Thanks for the kind words as well

What about an aluminum collapsable drinking cup. Biggest I could find online for a while was 5oz. Small when collapsed, has a keyring attatchment. Found a 10 oz one as well...maybe can boil water cook in the larger one?

This Pelican case is in my purse everyday as if I'm going to need it at the mall or grocery store, but oh well.
It's easy to put into my hiking bag. A fellow use to put these kits together, unsure if he still is. See photo and contents below:
