Really big bearing for anvil ?

And I'm not sure if you're kidding with me or this bearing steel is good for anvil ?

We are (well at least I am) NOT kidding about this. Think how hard you'd have to hit that thing in order to move it or even vibrate it. That means much more of your energy goes into moving the steel.

The issue is how much the inner ring weighs. The whole bearing may weigh 450Kg, but the inner ring may only weigh 50Kg. Still, I would get it.

I would suggest setting the bearing down flat on its side, putting a plate of 1" steel on top, and setting an anvil (or two) on top of the plate. This will create a massive weight base to enhance any anvils work ability. The base for my anvil weighs 400#/180Kg. that plus the 150# anvil makes a good combination.

Do you realize that many large bearings use 'case hardened " steels ? We used to make alloys like 3310 [high nickel m low carbon ] which is not suited for blades ! :(
