So... I was a little harsh on the D4... First off, I think the edge was a tad thin outta the box... the edge retention was absolute junk at first... I did not inspect it for a wire or rolled edge... I just noticed poor retention... the worst of any knife I've ever owned... BUT... I did a thourough sharpening job with the Sharpmaker, and retention has been top-notch. it may not cut cardboard all that well, but I pretty much NEVER slice cardboard with any knife... I much prefer to break down boxes with my hands, and save my edge for tasks better suited for a knife. I've been doing a lot of building and setting up tents (BIG ones)... Cutting a LOT of rope and sharpening pencils and such... It has performed VERY well. I moved the clip to "tip down" position as well.

Overall, the knife has turned out to be an IDEAL EDC. I have not noticed any problems with the obtuse grind, and the handle/ blade shape is simply perfect for a small knife... I LOVE the nested liners, and the finish on the FRN. Actually FRN has turned out to be my favorite handle material. It is probably my 4th FRN handled knife and it confirms many things I like about the material. it kinds has a "self healing" property which does not show scuffs or dents for very long... N E hoo... great folder, and highly recommended.

I like mine! Very functional and a good cutter. I got it for a change since I am really a Calypso Jr. kind of guy... I made mine tip down also.

I agree, I love the texture on the FRN. It's the grippiest scale material I've handled, and it's very resistant to dings and scratches.

Even when you get them, they don't show all that much.

But it's a magnet for skin and pocket fluff:D

Btw, anybody knows whether I need to dismantle the knife for washing, or can I just wash it as is and leave it to dry?

I have both a Delica and now an Endura. I've never owned a flat-ground pocket knife, so I don't know how to compare cutting ability between hollow/saber grinds to flat grinds.

I mostly tear down boxes with my knives, and I haven't had a problem with the grind, at least I don't think (again, idk how to compare to flats). What I do is cut at a severe angle. Instead of the blade being perpendicular to the surfaces to be cut, I hold the blade at a very acute angle in comparison to the surfaces. So instead of a +, it's more like ><, and the knife slips right through.

And they're my favorite knives.

I really should try a flat-ground knife, though.

Dude, get yourself a UKPK, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Mine slices boxes like a laser.

Or have Tom Krein put a full flat grind on that delica, it's far superior at slicing than the saber grind.:)

I think you should too.

actually I did do a rather hasty Youtube vid on a friends computer while traveling... search "ARCHMAN Delica 4." ...I will redo it when I get home... a little more positive.

Glad you like the D4, but you really shouldn't have any trouble gliding through those boxes. Might want to discuss with someone that knows more about edges than myself and see what's going on.

My delica 4 makes it to my pocket more than any other as of late. I do have a native and centofante 4 en route though........................

I have a new Benchmade Mini Presidio Ultra waitin for me at the PO right now... be pickin it up on the way to work in the AM... I'll be suprised if it pushes the D4 outta my pocket... The D4 is just so "no nonsense" and gimmick free. Plus I greatly appreciate the tip down and placement of the Spydie hole... It's soooo "at the ready."

I really like the D4. I own a CE and a SE version, and carry the SE. I don't clip it, but drop it clip and all into my RF pocket. Other than occasionally cleaning any lint out of the well of the lock, this works out perfectly. I also often carry a PE E4 in my LF pocket. The D4 does most of my cutting at work (cutting plastic ties, opening packages and sometimes breaking down boxes, etc.).

Though lately I've been dreaming of buying a PE G10 Endura 4.

I love the size and shape of it. It just barely fills up your hand, giving you as much cutting power as possible while taking up as little space in your pocket as possible. This together with the low weight makes it just perfect for bringing with you where ever you go.
