I have been thinking of getting one of these forever but never spent this much on a single knife before. Is it really worth it? Don't really need anyone to talk me into it or anything but a little reassurance would be nice :D One in the pic is what I want

If you have been thinking of getting it for a while, go for it. I think they are worth the money. I was privilege to check out a couple of them during a knife forum get together. I figure if the desire to own one stays long enough with me, I'll get one too someday. I would go for an SMF CC. :)

Get one. Strider took the folding knife to a new level. You will love it.

I have one in my pocket right now. Just make sure it isn't a knockoff or has been pimped.

Mini sj75 is better in a lot of ways... But the SnG should be a lil more sturdy. I have both and the SmF...and a couple Sebenzas. IMO the sebenza is a better knife. BUT if yer hell bent on a Strider I'm SURE you'll love it!

Sold my SNG 6 months ago , couldnt go on without one, now have the all stonewashed version looking at that stonewashed back and blade is a work of art .

It's worth it if YOU think it is. If all you're going to do after you get it is worry about how much you spent, save yourself the trouble now. Just buy it and enjoy it. . . Or don't. Only you know what is right for you.

My friends think I'm nuts for paying what I do for knives. I think some of them are crazy for spending what they do on other things. Decisions like this are specific to the individual and his likes.

The way I decide these things is I ask myself: which will I regret not having more? The money or the item?

If you've been thinking about it, DO IT! I was in the same position as you and now have an SnG clipped to my pocket damn near every day. Don't regret it one bit and am planning on buying more Strider folder's as money allows. Just an amazingly tough, well designed folder. Here's a pic of mine to maybe help convince you further :D

Isn't Strider coming out with an update in the locks? might want to wait for that but i also say go for it I'm in the hunt for one too!

That's a Strider PT you have pictured. Nonetheless, the SNG is one of my favorite knives! Go for it, you won't regret it. :D

I read all the blind love and blind hate and some rational posts in between for years. Finally decided the only way to find out is to buy one - bought a coyote brown/stonewash/stonewash SnG and have been very pleased...pleased enough that an SMF, another SnG and a PT have joined it.

The radius us already out of the lockup. I have a newer SNG, probably late summer or early fall production that already has the change.

IMO you should buy one. They are worth every penny. Plus, Mick or Josh are not going to get on the phone and call you a liar like Chris Reeve will when you have a problem. They aren't going to accuse you of flicking the knife and refuse to warranty it either. It's also built well enough that flicking isn't going to ruin the lockup.

I love the design of the SNG (had the lego and CC) - the blade shape, handle and size.. very nice, strong folder. I decided though it wasnt worth the price, least compared to CRK and Sebenzas so I sold it. That was only few months ago.. now I kind of regret it and want another one!

That's what happened to me - minus the PT

Seriously???? Wtf??

Op: striders are pretty sweet especially now that they have improved their lock up. I'm sure you will love it.

The design is the main reason you'd want one. Something like a ZT 0551 or 0560 will have better steel, better ergos, better customer service, better quality control, and better reliability, for about half the price. You won't have the problems with the thumbstud falling out or the blade beginning to play after a few months like Striders do. The ZT will also be thicker (sturdier) and have a Ti liner on the G10 side, and in the case of the 0560 ball bearings and a flipper. But knife buying is never about directly calculating the value of the knife based on its features; people buy designs that appeal to them. If the Strider SNG seems like the perfect knife for you and has that psychological "pull," then it's probably a justifiable purchase. If you're buying it because you think it has the best features in knifedom, look elsewhere.

What improvements were made on the lockup? I haven't had a Strider in a while. Google didn't really get me anywhere..

Never heard of a Strider blade stop falling out. Couldn't see it happening either. Personally, I think the SnG is designed much better and is more comfortable than the 0551 but that's just my preference. It also feels higher quality to me. And I would definitely have to say the SnG feels "sturdier" as you put it.

Check out the Strider section of that Green Place - Mick has a post there about the new tang grind that appears to be more acute and more linear rather than a radius.
