Reasonable candidates for a Bear Grylls-ish knife...

Wow. Guy(or girl) asks about a knife, and all he gets is trash talk about Bear.

Stainz: Someone posted a link to Ragweed forge. I suggest you follow it, and check out all the knives offered by all the different makers there. Most of those Scandinavian (Puukko) styles knives are perfect for what you are looking for. Sorry, but I don't know anything about the two knives you asked about. Hopefully someone who does will be able to help you if they are not too distracted by the Bear bashing.
Not sure how much money you are looking to spend, but if you can afford it, one of my favorite knives from ragweedforge(even though I don't own one) is the Aito http://ragweedforge.com/FinnishKnifeCatalog.html
and if you are on a budget, my go to knife, which I absolutely love even though it ain't too pretty is the Mora #510 http://ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html for $9 you can't afford not to get one.

Size wise, it looks like the new RAT 3 is close to the Bear knife. For something a little bigger, the RAT 4 is looking like a perfect knife to me. Others you may want to check out are the Fallkniven F1, several of the Bark Rivers like the Bravo 1, the new Spyderco/Hossom colab's look excellent (if not a bit pricey). there are some excellent choices for not a lot of cash.
 
In the first season, when Bear was using all those cheap knives, I kept thinking that the perfect knife for him would be an F1. :) :thumbup:
 
Well, I ordered the BM from the 'least expensive' vendor I could find - and he said it probably wouldn't ship before Christmas, although he had it 'in stock'. The other, more expensive sites, didn't have it! I had the reverse luck with the B R knife - but it should be here Monday. Admittedly, it was just another ploy to get more knifes... I can't afford more firearms...

Yeah, Bear is a trip... the squeezing water from Dumbo's poop and drinking it was just about enough. Still, it is entertaining... okay, it beats Rosie O.
