reasons the Strider SNG is worth the money

what are these custom knifes that can handle what a Strider can for the same price, I hear about these customs all the time but no one names these knives/makers?

Haters gonna hate. At the end of the day, Strider makes a great product. I don't have a SNG, only a PT. I'd buy another Strider product in a heartbeat.

I had a SnG that was perfect. Sold it chasing the dream of finding the perfect knife. Wish I had it back!!!

Look at the customs on True North Knives.
Also, check out the makers here on Bladeforums. I've seen some monstrously awesome folders for between $200-$400.:)

Gee, that would be any custom framelock with similar blade thickness and a decent pivot. Strider cannot violate the laws of physics, and they use S30V, Ti, and G10, like dozens of others. You really think they have something Direware, Carillo, Hinderer, Martin, etc don't? I would list Demko, but the Tri-ad lock can handle more than a framelock.

True, but the wait time on his customs makes them unattainable for many folks.
Nice knives though, and they certainly seem worth the cash outlay.:)

Yuna has some sweet framelocks too.

Direware Solo

Three Sisters Forge Beast or Super Beast

Seamus Uber Frame Lock

is the cc much weaker than the legos, and thanks for all the heads up on these other makers!

Ya know what though?
I've had some of the knives which could arguably be better, and certainly better VALUE than Striders, yet I still felt the draw.
Once you get past a certain level of quality, it's about design, not performance in many cases.
If you like the design, get it.
If you don't, then don't.

Me, I'm a true knife whore, so I gotta get lots of knife action.;)

stabman, for a person cool as you, i would figure you wouldn't be on this forum on a Friday night for the last hour or so, then again you do live in canada. THANKS FOR THE INPUT EAHHH, enjoy your sng
Well, I'm just waiting on my ride to the gym, and this isn't Friday either.
Perhaps you should save the money, and buy a friggin calendar rather than a knife. And maybe a brain too.

stab, as long as I have had my Wheaties I never miss the chance :)

I like the design though. I wonder how much of a loss there is going with his ZT collaboration 0300 which is around $195 now...curious if anybody who owns/owned both has put them through the paces and liked the 0300 as much or maybe more.

Got to say the same for me. I own a bunch of the knives mentioned (Direware, Three Sisters, Carillo, Hinderer, Martin...not Demko but thats just because I'm not a huge fan of lock back/tri-ad lock designs, with my fat hands I can't open them one handed) and a bunch not mentioned (Fellhoelter, Les George, Blackwood, Southard, Rexford, Manaro, Mosier, Burchtree, Fraley, Cook, Marsh...etc) yes, many of them do what an SNG is capable of and more so, but you're going to have to be extremely patient to get one or pay way more and get very lucky in a knife market in order to get one remotely close to cost. Even owning all these knives, I've still got a soft spot for the SNG and how well it is designed and just how awesome it is to own.

No doubt there are custom equivalents of a strider that can be catered toward an individual and be superior to a Strider. The flipside of that is Striders are semi production and can be easily replaced if you have the money at any time.

You can bad talk the company all you want, but at the end of the day, they make an awesome knife. The design of the SNG is simply awe inspiring to me. The heat treatment of their S30V is miles better than your run-of-the-mill production folder. The pivot is to die for. The lock is extremely strong and reliable. The finger choil is very effective. The pocket clip is undeniably secure. The SNG is much harder to complain about than most high end folders out there.

I've never personally read a bad review of the SNG. Some might complain about the price, but nobody complains about it being a bad knife. It is almost universally agreed upon to be excellent from a functional perspective, which is what really matters.

Why do people keep buying this knife with all the more common negative reviews vs the positive reviews. I'm thinking it is because people want it but frustratingly can't afford it.

Different strokes for different folks. Camaro SS vs. Mustang GT500 vs Corvette

For the same reason some people like design features, others, like myself, do not. Even in L.E. I can never see a person needing a knife that heavy duty.
