Reasons To Carry a Pocket Knife

I was doing a job on a small river. We had to use rope to tie off floating barriers. Out of over a dozen guys working. There was only one pocket knife on the job. The one in my pocket😂😂😂

I made a video to explain to people why I carry a pocket knife. It came in at 5 seconds and was just me saying "Because I like to. Bite me."

I figured that wasn't worth posting on YouTube.

One of the main reasons to carry a pocket knife is to whip it out in public. That will make everyone know you're a force to reckon with and should not be challenged under any circumstances. "Bring it on," you'll say, waving your expensive titanium framelock folder, "everyone knows that blade length corresponds to, shall we say, a different kind of length. Then you giggle really loudly - that step is important.

Another reason to carry a pocket knife is what I like to call "attitude adjustment". Someone's disagreeing with you in a conversation? Stick 'em with your knife! Someone parked in a handicapped space when they're clearly not handicapped? Slash their tires! Knives also happen to be a great way to get taxi drivers to drive faster, or for bus drivers to conveniently forget that you need to pay your fare. To call it a "Multi-purpose tool" would be an understatement.

Knives are also great at stopping crimes. Let's say you've got a burglary in progress. Pull out your knife, and wave it in his face. "Look at how polished this edge is," you'll say in a calm but seductive voice. "And to think I did that on S90-V!" The burglar's eyes will widen with an equal mix of disbelief and delight. "A mirror edge... on S90-V?", he'll say, knees growing weak. Show him the flipping action. "My god... the detent, it's so strong! And those wonderful tolerances!" Burglary thwarted.

I guess if you needed to hammer in some nails with the knife's spine or use the tip to drive screws, that's a possibility too.

The below only works if you have a convex edge.

Since the dawn of man a cutting instrument has been one of the most invaluable tools. No other explanation necessary.

I really like it, just because there's a lot of people that need to see a video like that...Sadly.

My only real suggestion would be to remove the 'weapon' comment at the beginning, and it's not because a knife can't be used as a weapon, but so can a a tire iron and a baseball bat, and I could keep going, but I am sure you get the point.....

Knives don't hurt people, people hurt people....

Knives can certainly be used as tire irons and as baseball bats..

I've always said, if you can't find a single reason to do anything, then you shouldn't do it.

I carry a knife, because I have a reason for it. Many reasons, actually.

I would prefer someone not carry a knife, than carry a knife and not have a reason for it.

GREAT VIDEO ! Nice editing and pretty funny..

In case I have to cut something..........that has been my stock answer for a while now, Spoken very kindly and sincerely, with Mr.Rogers-esque smile.....
If they want more.....I remind them that a knife of some sort is essentially the universal tool that all people in all cultures, races, classes, etc use on a daily basis.
