Appreciate the kind words Hackenslash. I was thinking back as you were making your post that many years ago Sears and Wards used to sell rifles. The rifles were made by Mossberg and Savage just to name a few and they carried the Sears or Wards logo. They are great rifles. Both companies have now bought the farm.
I do use my search engines and Blade Forums when I am purchasing my knifes and am very careful in utilizing the comments off search engines. I have only been in the knife game over one year and have dropped a BOAT load of money on the ones I like to play with. I started out with Spydercos and ended up in purchasing quality slip joints. I try to purchase US made knifes but I have purchased a a few quality knifes from JA in China, a few from Italy and one from Japan.
It is funny how my everyday carry ended up being a Sage 1 and 5 from Spyderco. Both Sage series knifes are made in Taiwan and they are great as to fit, finish and ergos.
I fully understand Reate makes very great knifes and how the games is played as indicated by Forty Two Blades.

I recently purchased a Pena X Series Bronco knife from Blade HQ. I did my due diligence on the quality issues and ran into a blank wall when checking who manufactured the knife. The knife is listed as Pena X Series. The country of origin is left off the Blade HQ listing. I did further research and found out the knife is manufactured in China. Continuing on in my research it appears the manufacturer is Reate Knifes. Frustrating to me that the knife is not manufactured by Pena Knifes. I understand a known designer consulting with a company on a design and clearly stating this in the description of the knife. I do not like it when the manufacturer is clearly listed as as one entity and built by another and not divulged. Another example I encountered was the Liong Mah Traveler knife listed on Blue HQ. The knife is apparently made by Reate knives and this is not divulged as such. The country of origin is listed as China.
This discussion is not meant to pick on any manufacturer or country. This type of practice in my view can lead to all types of negative issues by purchasers and vendors. Anytime the door is closed can only lead to negative issues.
I did express my issues with Blade HQ via E mail.
I agree 100%. It's an issues of don't ask don't tell. I will pay $400+ for American.

Very good point but some people are new to forum and find food for thought from old threads.
Reacting to them ...well....
Just letting him know so he doesn't sit there waiting for a reply. And hopefully won't be bumping a bunch of threads that have already been discussed ad nauseum.

something I look for, when a knife is promoted as Designed by "someone/anyone" that means that the Real person DIDN"T make it.........bla, bla, bla..... Someone Else did.

If That is important to you....

I used to be a professional brewer (beer maker, not baseball player) Way back in the nineties I first saw This.....
The beer you drink (Often) times ISN'T made by the brewery you think it is.
the term they use is Contract Brewing.

Any marketing company can slap a brand sticker on a bottle of beer and call it Micro-brewed......

I bet it's the same today with knives.
any marketing company can call themselves knife designers, and find a guy with a CNC.... Now they are a knife company...... spitting out knives.

(We as fans, still find That acceptable)
until it is farmed out to a different guy with a CNC, in a different country.
