Good transaction... Information possibly 'snatched' enroute...

This (these) phone soliciting firm(s) have been bugging me almost non-stop for over a month now. I never completely hear the name... Something like American Medical Heritage or some ****. From early morning, well into the evening. I can't COMPLAIN to anyone because the numbers cannot be called back. They are calling my cell phone since that is the only contact # that I ever leave when ordering from merchants. The ONLY way to get the first firm to stop calling me was to tell them that it is against the law to cold call solicit a cell phone # ( I hope that's still true.) and that I'm gonna press legal action... "No, thank you." doesn't work, neither does "Who the **** is THIS??? at 8am one morning... got 4 more calls ignored from the same number later throughout the day... Anyway, the 'culprit', whether by accident or on purpose is: An UNKNOWN Malicious information stealing BASTID (edited from original post.) I have NO DOUBT of this as the origin as I used a unique credit card for the only transaction ever completed with MD Tactical... And the morons from the 1st solicitation firm would start their script with, " We're calling you today because you are a preferred customer of on of our partners that you've recently purchased from, with your MasterCard ending in '2596'...". Luckily, only ONE of my unique ShopSafe generated credit card number ends in those 4 digits... The one used for MD TACTICAL. (MDTactical.com) Fearing that they might've been hacked, I sent them an email. Then NEVER responded to that email dated 12/2/06. Why am I writing this NOW???? Because I'm STILL receiving calls from the SECOND solicitation firm as of YESTERDAY, 01/13/07. 'NO' is apparently NOT enough, so now I feel that maybe I'm not the only one out there with these issues...

EDITED to add: Protect Your PERSONAL INFO at all times... NO MATTER WHERE YOU 'GO' ONLINE Turns out that most likely my information may have been snatched in between us...

I hope this helps someone out there.

That happened to me, once. After two or three such calls, and me informing them that there's a hefty fine for telemarketing cell numbers, it stopped. I was able to identify who gave my info away and, suffice it to say, I'll never do business with them again! Now I no longer ever give my cell phone number to vendors.

Shannon Lew, the owner of MD Tactical, is a friend of mine and I will forward this onto him. This is not something I have ever experienced nor expected with him, and he deserves a chance to speak up about this as well as post a response here. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

It's a good thing you couldn't call the number back. One of the old phone scams is to call and leave a somewhat indecipherable message that sounds important with a call back number. This number will be a rip-off company somewhere in the Caribbean where calls cost like $25 per minute.

PLEASE do!!!! I was actually more concerned that SOMEONE ELSE was in their system and not being detected. I apologize for posting this but other people are possibly at risk from this information leak and need to be told. If this is all as a result of a 'cracked' system, then please find me and I'll remove this post AFTER it is sealed off. Cool?? :) I did try to reach out to MDT. With a month gone by and no response, but still receiving calls, I started wondering if maybe info was sold...

Let me be really clear so there's no error for anyone reading this... The actual transaction WITH MD Tactical was GOOD!!! The continuing solicitations resulting from this possibly hacked info are not.

You have to tell them to put you on the DO NOT CALL list otherwise they will continue to call. Big fines for violating the DO NOT CALL list, but make sure you log when you told them to add you to the list and any subsequent calls.

Read the information at the link below. You can register your telephone #'s (home and cell) on the "National Do-Not-Call Registry."

http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/tcpa.html

Most states also have a "Do-Not-Call Registry." Contact your public utilities commission or state consumer protection office. They will be able to tell you if your state offers such and if so, provide you with a telephone number to register.

Jaxx,

MD Tactical NEVER sells, diseminates or shares any information to other business.

Please give Eric a contact so he can look into this. sales@mdtactical.com

Hey, I hear you, and tried with the first firm... the person on the other end would always at some point hang up. It wasn't until 9:15am in traffic one morning when the phone rang with the first number showing... I answered and after the hello ****, I launched into the illegal speech, asked for DNC list entry, threatened FCC, and then WARNED the person that she was probably being duped into thinking that this is a real job, and should check out her employer... LOL the line went dead, no more calls!!! about a week + later, new number: (000)000-0000 (seriously!), same script, same crap. how do you report a no number??? I will see tomorrow if the same speech from me on Saturday will stop the calls until they sell my info to someone else... I don't think that this is a solicitation so much as a phishing expedition, so they wouldn't (in this scenario) be so worried about a Do Not Call list. I mean I guess... Any tips on bagging these *******s would really be appreciated, I imagine that MD Tactical might also want a piece of 'em.

Well this is not good. Read this and you will see that maybe more then just your cell number may be in the hands of these people. This number has been known to call cell numbers then some of the people see funny charges on there CreditCards. You may want to keep an eye on your CCs. Here is some info I found for you.

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170052

Also another good outlet for these type of calls is the website whocalled.us here is a link to it based on that number ( alot of people getting those calls it looks like )

http://whocalled.us/lookup/7275410001

Also I tried to look up this number and it shows to be this.
Phone DetailsType: Land Line
Provider: Verizon
Location: Saint Petersburg, FL

It looks to be a cellphone number.

I hope this was alittle helpful for you.

Very!!! Thanxx!! I used a unique cc number generator. the 4 digits they had were from THAT number, which was used for an online transaction with MD Tactical, and only for that one purchase. LOL from me they got ****, but I'm frustrated over the calls, and may have to sacrifice the ONLY cell number that I've ever had.. 10 years+, a real drag since the area code has been out of available cell numbers for years....I figured what they really wanted was that CVC2 code. I'm suspicious by nature, so I don't usually go out of my way to give out my info, IF ya know what I'm sayin'! :)

and the dont call list works too, might take a few weeks to get around to everyone but they do eventually quit calling, takes maybe 5 weeks or so, i used to get a lot of solicitation calls mostly around dinner time (ie 5 to 8 PM) absolutely the worst time to call me lol, and i mean almost every day would get at least one, its rare now to get one FWIW, if ya are having this problem i strongly suggest getting on the list, costs maybe $10 or so,

imho instead there should be a "do call" list ya can get on if that kinda thing turns ya on, no other numbers would be legal to call, i bet they wouldnt get 2 dozen people to get on that one,

how would ya like to make your living calling folks and soliciting?? i know one guy who does that and he says everyone is so rude, i told him what do ya expect.

solicitors drive me NUTZ FWIW,

ohh I am sorry I forgot to post the link on the phone number info.

http://www.whitepages.com/10001/search/ReversePhone?phone=7275410001

This was a simple whitepages lookup and if I was you I would contact Verizon about this. They could have transfered the number to another provider ( Verizon had it so they would know who to contact if it was transfered ).

I am sorry I could not help you any more. The number only shows to be owned by Verizon Florida Inc. Verizon is well known to kill off these types of phones if they are being used for scams. You may be able to solve your problem by contacting them.

No thanks needed. The thanks should be from me to everyone in this forum. I am a disabled EMT / PC repair tech ( ran my own shop for awhile on the side on PC Repair ) and when I got disabled I was so used to being busy that I felt lost for a long time. I tried many things but could find nothing that gave me the rush I got working as an EMT. Well nothing till now anyway. Working on a knife with all the heat and control needed gives me the same feeling. The only problem I had was I could not find any help ( guides ) that was truly helpful until I found this forum. If I do nothing but read all the posts in the forum through out my day I feel like I have done something productive and learned alot in doing so.

I am not a big poster on forums but I seen this and other threads as a way I could do something for the people in this forum for all the things they have unknowingly done for me.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice and help you all have given.

I've been an MD Tactical customer for years, buying my first Mad Dog from Shannon about 2001 or so? Anyway, this is the sort of attention to matters I've come to expect from MDT and I know will always be around with them.

Not an MDT cheerleader, just a very satisfied customer.

Shannon, Eric, thanks for the quick response, guys!
