Recent CD Purchases

No new CD's recently, but the next 2 will be Bone Machine and The Black Rider by Tom Waits. The only 2 CD's of his i don't have yet.

Replacing some of my worn-out cassettes with CDs:

Bruce Springstein - Born in the USA
Never was a big fan of Glory Days or Born in the USA, but some of the other songs are favorites.

Lynyrd Skynyrd (Pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd)
The demo versions of Tuesday's Gone and Freebird are worth buying this for!

Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse of Reason
Although Roger Waters called this a "reasonable forgery of a Pink Floyd album," it's one of my favorites.

good to see Doc on this list, I just got:
Del McCoury: The Family
Ricky Skaggs: Brand New Strings

"country rocks, but bluegrass rules"

You can find some interesting stuff at Amazon for under $5:

Julee Cruise -- Floating Into The Night
Trailer Bride -- Whine de Lune
Cowboy Junkies -- Lay It Down
Just Desserts -- Give Up The Ghost
Therion -- Secret of the Runes
Mazzy Star -- So Tonight I Might See
Various string quartets/quintets of Mozart (I can remember titles, not 3 digit numbers).

With the exception of Therion, these recent purchases all help to calm my nerves -- a necessity in Tidewater traffic!

Lots of good stuff folks-
Found a couple of used CDs to plug a couple of gaps:
Rickie Lee Jones- Pop Pop
Graham Parker & the Rumour- Another Grey Area

Been on a kind of hard kick lately, not too hard mind you:

Linkin Park
Alice in Chains
Puddle of Mudd
SoundGarden

I also just burned a couple borrowed CD's:

Old and in the Way (a bluegrass album of jam players including Jerry Garcia)
Steppenwolf Greatest Hits (yes they had more than 2)

I also just got the Curious George soundtrack. I know, I know, but I'm a big Jack Johnson fan. A few sappy kid-type songs on there, but overall pretty good.

Most recently:

Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Johnny Cash - Personal File
Dave Alvin - West of the West

James

Rush - 2112 (record)
Demilich - Demo + Promo (tape)
Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood (cd)

Ok, i was surprised to find no Tom Waits, in two stores, that i don't own already, so i picked up Closer by Joy Division, and Depeche Mode, the singles, from 81 to 85.

didnt know so many people on here listened to death metal / metal. Anyone going to ozzfest or sounds of the underground this year?

anyways,
Tool - 10000days
rob zombie - educated horses
Death - Fate(the best of)
Venom - (i forget the title)
Blue Oyster Cult - Fire Of Unknown Orgin
Pink Floyd - The Wall (replacement)
A few Grateful Dead CD's
Thats about it in the past couple months, Ive stopped buying so many due to the fact that I have about 400 cds, and dont even listen to a 1/8th of them regularly.

Both an amazing album and band- there's some good old local (for me anyways) Canadian metal for ya.
 I saw them at their first big live performance in Columbus, OH, opening for Children of Bodom and Lamb of God.

I was blown away. They were pretty much the best opening band I've ever seen at a concert. I walked right over after their set and bought their album directly from the lead singer, and thanked him for bringing the metal so hard.

I want to go to ozzfest pretty much exclusively to see Strapping Young Lad and Dragonforce. Everything else is pretty Nu.

Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse would be nice to see, but it's not fun sitting through the rest of the crap they have playing there.

Chris Botti - Night Sessions, When I fall in Love, A thousand Kisses Deep (was a three album boxed set)

Can - Future Days

Dead Kennedys - Mutiny on the Bay(live album)

quite a bit of variety there lol
