I'm looking for a recommendation for a 2.5" total-blade-length knife. I'm open to fixed blade also, but will post that question separately.

I'm looking at that the Kizer Urban Bowie and the Spyderco Urban. Any thoughts on those or other recommendatsions? Thank you.

Maybe you should post on the appropriate forum?

Kizer Urban Bowie is fantastic, fun, and has a fairly unique blade in the 5th pocket realm. I consider it a little “big” knife. I have the g10, but the micarta looks awesome also.

Other options:
CS Engage 2.5 - this one is great!
Bestech Engine - 2 different blade shapes, great materials, fit, and finish. Con is price point and too pretty to use.
Bestech Bihai - box opening wizard.
Civivi Baby Banter - add Unlocked Composite scales and you have one of the best ever, seriously.
Spyderco Lil Native - find the cruwear bersion and you have a tank!
Spyderco Dragonfly - what to say, so many options, and just a fun little knife.
CJRB Maileah - loce this one, great nlade shape, but just always seems like it could use a forward choil.
Ferrum Forge Mini Archbishop - a seriously underrated knife.

For fixed how about the MKM Mikro. 2 blade shapes, great finish, excellent stock sheath, and a great add on kydex sheath.

Not a benchmade fan at all but you could wait for very delayed with no street date full immunity, it has a 2.5” blade. Hate to see what the smaller one is.

I will recommend a Cold Steel Tuff Lite. It has a 2.5" blade that performs above it's weight class.
I also recommend the Tuff Lite. Then when you see how good it is. Have a custom fixed blade made of it in your specs. Both knives will cost less than $200.00 total.
This is the custom I had made. By David Mary David Mary

OP: do you prefer a slip joint (of which there are plenty) or a locking knife, and if so, do you prefer thumb stud, flipper, or Spydie hole? It would help narrow the field.

Spyderco Techno 2. It has become one of my favorites.

I would also say to take a look at the Spyderco Lil' Native. They have a Wharncliffe version if you like that blade style.

The Dragonfly is an EDC MVP. It's so easy to carry that I often forget I'm carrying it! I have a few and one of them lives in a pocket in my favorite jacket.

BTW, I prefer the Wharncliffe version. Here is mine next to what a large pileated woodpecker did to my stump.
