Recommend a folder under $125

+1 on the Sage 2. It's $15-20 above your $125 price cap, but other than that it fits your criteria perfectly. The Sage 1 would also be an excellent choice, although it has carbon fiber rather than the metal handles you're looking for.

Another +1 on the Sage 2.

I think it might be the nicest folder I have in its price range.

Spyderco Para-Military 2 is the current model. It should come at around $110 from an online dealer.

I just realized something after researching more: I want a folder with a release button on the side instead of the body release like the Bradley and Sebenza have.

Does that narrow it down? I kinda like the SOG Mini Vulcan, but I want that style with metal handles.

You can get a Hogue EX 01 with a button lock and aluminum scales. Not sure on current price on those though.

MP, if you don't have the Gayle Bradley folder you, you need to add one to your collection. It will blow you away.

Spyderco Manix 2. Fits all your criteria except the metal handles, but G-10 is better in my opinion. The ball bearing lock is extremely smooth and operates from the side (hopefully that's what you mean).

if G10 was ok, the spyderco sage 3 would be a perfect fit.

the benchmade 707 has:

1. 3" blade
2. aluminum handles (with a small G10 insert)
3. under $125
4. ball bearing lock

ZT0400 if you don't mind something a little bigger.
Para 2 would be good also.

Manix 2 on the cheap would be good if you don't mind a steel drop.

If I was in your position, I'd pick a Benchmade 940. Wait another couple weeks, and skip a trip or two to the burger hut, and you're there.

The 940 special edition with D2 blade can be had for slightly over your budget. I won't mention where to stay within the rules, but it isn't too hard to track down.

If you're worried about blade toughness, Benchmade's D2 ranks up there... they seem to put a really hard heat treat on their D2. To me, it's treated slightly harder than Kershaw's D2.

I have a D2 Bone Collector, and I've been using it for weeks with the factory edge, and I haven't detected so much as a nick.

The 940 D2 is REALLY high on my list once I have the money.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to get the 940 with the d2

I can't believe anyone didn't recommend a ZT 0350. That's a outstanding knife at twice it's price.
