Recommend a knife for my uncle turning 60

I just checked — today’s the last day! (I feel like a car salesman.)

EDIT: There’s an ad on the homepage that says they’ll deliver it by Christmas (the Spitfire, at least), even though the shop page itself said it usually takes 6-8 weeks. Just to note.
Wow thanks! Yeah I saw the 6-8 weeks at first, that's good to know!

The Buck Pursuit line doesn't get much attention on the forums but they are fantastic knives. Thumb stud but no pocket clip. Comes with a nice belt pouch with a snap closure.

This is the 661 Pursuit Pro. It's about the same size as a Buck 112 but much lighter. A larger version is also available. Both versions are offered in green as well with 420HC steel at a lower price.

If he's frugal AND carries a Kershaw Leek, I would venture to guess that he does appreciate quality and US manufacturing... (otherwise he could just as easily be carrying an Ozark or S&W)...

Considering those two factors, already carrying a $50 made in US knife, (maybe a bit cheaper if it's already got mileage on it), maybe he doesn't care and it was just on sale, but I would say definitely something reputable and US made to stay on the safe side.
A Hogue Ritter or Deka might be right up his alley.

Okay everyone! Sorry for the delay, but without further ado I'd like to post what knife I chose for this occasion. After lengthy discussion with bikerector bikerector I have purchased a M.U.K. (Michigan Utility Knife) with olive wood handle and micarta accents, designed by Cad and produced by David Mary. I'm super pumped about this choice! I'll post a quick video at some point, but here are the shots from Chad.

Buck 110 slim pro. I have the regular not the oro and love it as an edc work knife. You said he's practical and frugal he would love it the 110 is a classic yet the modern version is lighter wears well and the steel on the pro a great improvement. Classic yet modern yet not to expensive that he wouldn't want to use. A great gift.

So many great options at this price point. Zero Tolerance can be in play at that. That's where I'd be looking. Spyderco are great too. Benchmade Mini Bugout. Griptilian. Honestly tons of options.

The Bushcamp reminds me of the SYKCO WS1020, a knife I like and use a lot. SR101 steel and a Resiprene-C handle. About 8 1/2 OAL.

I bought one to test out as it peaked my curiosity to see if there were many similarities, and there are some. The handle is night and days different when in hand. The differences in the blade were more subtle but still a few present. Decent knife.

Nice choice! Earlier this year I got one of their 24/7s in olive wood

”Ahh, the good old Buck 110. Here every cool uncle has one”.
😁
Yup not too far off there. I was strongly leaning towards this classic but ultimately went a little more special just in the fact of smaller maker, handmade, etc.

Hey hey! It's that time again, meaning, help me pick out a knife! Yes, of course I could do this myself but I would really like some input and curious to see what recommendations you have. Deets are below:

- as title says, this is a gift for my uncle's 60th birthday
- I'm thinking something "nice" but not a safe queen
- he is outdoorsy type into hunting and fishing
- doesn't necessarily have to be a hunting or fishing knife, but certainly could be
- refers to himself as a "poor man with a dream," ie: frugal, walmart budget, not into flashy or extravagant
- he's a laid back, no frills kinda guy
- saw him recently and he carry's a Kershaw, not sure what but 90% sure its a leek
- I lean towards Spyderco but all brand ideas welcome
- realistic budget is under $200, but out of curiosity would love to hear recs from any price range for this event

EDIT: folder OR fixed, though I lean folder for generally higher carry-ability (debatable obv)
I tell you what, if he's an old timer, I'd go with the Benchmade Mini Griptilian. It's an excellent knife, great edc, S30V steel, and it's stout enough to do jobs like cleaning game and fish with ease. You could go with the Benchmade Bugout, and it can do these things as well. But, I just like the feel of the mini grip a little better than the Bugout for any tasks beyond edc.

Small fixed, small enough to carry, big enough for regular small jobs. And best of all one doesn’t need to clean it out of junk on the inside. Just my two cents.
