Recommend me a bowie type knife

Really liking this shape.

I'm guessing its much over my budget of 300....
You'd be surprised at what you can do with 3 hunski, especially from a newer smith.
I got this for way less than your budget:

You have to look around and ask.
Most makers are happy to work within your budget.
I think 10-12 inches, single steel, simple scales, no crazy grinds, should be in your ball park.
Check out the makers for sale forum and don't be afraid to ask questions.
The worse they can say is no.

I'll buck the trend and throw out a Kabar Heavy Bowie, if you find one, great blade and way under your budget. It's not as sexy as some of the other suggestions, but man it brings a smile to my face.

I bought the knife used from the original owner, so It was less than $300. I’m not sure what it cost new. Robert Erickson is a member on this board so you could reach out to him. Great guy and really talented! I have a few of his knives and all of them are flawless.

+1 for custom, although the $300 budget might be challenging given the size of the blade. If you can go a bit over, you're golden.

For production, I like the Jesse Hemphill Bowie (in 80CrV2) or the Zoe Crist Scout (in A2). Each can be had for a bit over $200, if you shop around. The Zoe Crist has a better blade shape, IMO, but I prefer 80CrV2 for toughness.

Edit: and yes, Bark River has plenty of options, but I refuse to support them given their history.

I recommend the Bark River Bravo 2 (a bit pricey) or Ontario Rat 7 (nice and cheap). Or you can find the right TOPS for you, by going through their excellent website, and then buy it from a good retailer.

You asked for No coating on the blade, must have a straight edge to sharpen on a stone, and no damascus (not a fan).

So far that leaves out about every suggestion here. Bark rivers are convex not a flat V grind.

I am also going to break your rule but you can fix it later.

I suggest an Ontario SP10 Marine Raider. Great knife at less than 60 bucks.

Spend about 30 minutes scraping the black coating off and you have a very good knife.

In regards to Bark River, what do you mean?
