Recommend me a knife

Oh nice. I am looking back at the SOCP so trying to decide between these two

Both are exellent choices. The Street Beat’s advantage is that it is better for every day utility tasks. The Socp is strictly a self defense dagger. It is better for using with a gun in your hand.

This is just an Airsoft gun. Almost impossible to get a pistol liscense in canada. (Normally you hold the dagger in supporting hand, but my left hand was busy using the camera) This is where it can be good that the SOCP from Benchmade practically has no edge. It will hurt your hand to fire but it can be done.

I strongly advise you seek some type of realistic hands on training for your specific needs , and THEN choose a particular weapon that fits your training ! Equipping with a weapon you don't know how to use reflexively, under stress and coordinated with your gun and/ or other tools is foolish and dangerous to everyone .

I forgot about the Ronin, Sakura blade. It is a ring blade designed by a trainer and manufactured by Spartan blades. I think it' a bit pricey, but worth a mention. I think they have to be bought through Ronin

Buck vanguard, and these:
Beretta Knives Loveless Design AUS-8 Drop Point Hunter Fixed Blade Knife 200A
HCKT Foothills Skinner Drop-point Fixed-blade Knife
Cold Steel Fixed Blade Knife Pendleton Hunter
tops 4.5 HOG and Mohawk hunter

they are at various price points. I have one of each and they are all solid knives with good performance.

Have you found anything you like yet ? Be interested to know what you Land on for a blade.

Still considering the options. I like the SOCP, but it’s lack of edge and iffy sheath basically make it a $100 shank. The Spyderco seems to fill the needs well, just a little boring.

I'm pretty sure Spark has one for sale.

Say what?

Badass! But holy expensive.

Well, all you have to do is take the course, pass the test, and send the license fee.
Of course, to actually buy the handgun, you then have to join a gun club, which usually has their own safety course.

It isn't that big a deal, if you actually want handguns. ;)
But with the price of ammo these days, you may not end up shooting them all that often! :D

Really? That is all you have to do?

*Hugs my wallet tight*

Oh damn, looks like I’m about to become poor.

Yep. :)

When people talk about the impossibility of handguns in Canada, the only truth is about getting a permit to carry it around all over the place.
Your license allows for carry from home to the range, any licensed range, so practice and competitions are just fine.
You cannot stick it on your hip and walk around the mall though. :D

You can even go to competitions in the USA if you get a Form 6 (that's a US thing).

Most (all? Not sure yet) states allow for Canadians to get hunting permits, so you could go handgun hunting in certain states, as long as your gun is of sufficient caliber for the game you plan on hunting.

Another vote for Behring, or Treeman, knives. Jim makes a helluva stout piece, if that's what you're looking for. Check out the Ultra Phalanx.
Personally, I like the TOPS Skinat. Checks most of your boxes, and adds some serious utility. Fits the hand well, without being a handful. Extended tang, micarta scales. It's not light, but it's very solid. I don't like the belt clip on the factory sheath, it doesn't work well with my gun belt, which is thick and double layered, as it wedges between the leather and sharkskin. It might work fine for you. I usually carry it in a leather pouch sheath, but will be getting a slimmer kydex made for it.

A lot of awesome Benchmade and Spydercos will be released in the near future. I would wait and see if they interest you.
