Recommend me a stacked leather knife

It’s a Randall thing. I think it is done for balance Standard pommel is duraluminum, even with a Brass guard. Which looks even more mismatched, but it is part of the Randall look.

They only recommend brass or nickel silver pommels on long blades to offset the weight.

I did not mention it, but yes, for the sake of balance it should all the more be a nickel silver pommel, as the knife is quite forward heavy with its 7" blade. In the end it's just a little itch I need to scratch now and then... :)

Threaded tang, not peened. Thats one of my main requirements. I dont mind a peen on stag handles, but with leather I simply consider it "the right way to do it".
Rough Rider, Marbles or Boker dont fit my criteria.
I dont want a fighting knife, no cross guards, also no coated blades or other coated parts.

Im not just looking for something purely utilitarian. Im looking for something elegant & well executed, with some attention paid to the details. Ive mailed wajgy a list of things Id like done, but am as of now unsure if hes willing to do it.
I know I can be a difficult customer & am quite specific about certain things, but I dont think that Im unreasonable in what I ask. Maybe my expectations are too high for the price point?

The custom unfortunately diddnt quite work out, I believe there were some misunderstandings. No matter, that means Im still looking for now.

Is there a section on this forum where I could post a request to have a custom piece made, to perhaps find a maker able to make what im looking for?

Just to post an update here; I'm currently still looking for a maker (here). I dont wanna have to buy a Blackjack after all this.

To post another update; II ended up commissioning a custom work by Mr. Presnell.

Lots of interesting details on that knife. Ill of course share some pictures here once its finished. Excited how its gonna turn out.

There's always Hess (I skipped a page apologies if they've already been mentioned).
I haven't looked recently; but last year they were still orderable

If I lived in Germany, I’d look for a vintage Solingen hunting knife. Most I’ve seen here have had stag or bone handles and brass bolsters/pommels, but I believe I’ve seen some stacked leather ones as well.

Between the wars til about the 60s, American mfgrs were pumping out leather handled knives like hell wouldn’t have it. Marbles, Kabar, Case, Camillus, Schrade and others. You can always tell a Western by the split tang, they had the patent on it.

I know this isn’t what the OP wants, and doesn’t mean diddly squat to him, but I am posting here for someone in the future who will open this thread looking for info on leather washer handle knives. As of ‘23, there’s still old ones out there, and putting one back to work is a splendid thing.
