Recommend some survival meat for a party

Rattlesnake if you can find it. Snapping turtle is amazing if you shred it like briskit....
Aligator is awesome too...

Hum. Well I can get Buffalo meat pretty easily, but I'm thinking that tongue might be better for shock factor. It's also pretty inexpensive. I've found a few good recipes, but I'm interested to see how it will marinate and grill when thinly sliced.

I'd like to prepare it on spot, but from what I've been reading, it seems that some advanced prep might be best.

naked, speaking of tongue:

A man walks into a dinner, sits down at the counter and says to the waitress, "What's the Special?"
The waitress says, "We have a nice tongue sandwich."
The man says, "Yuk, oh nasty, icky. I could never eat anything that's been in a cows mouth! Just give me a couple of eggs."

Buffalo is good. I cut up a buffalo for the local Elks lodge fund raiser dinner (what did you expect them to serve, Elk?). The Grand Poobah gave me two steaks of my choice – like I didn't know what two good steak would be! I took two 1¼" Porterhouse steaks! The wife was pleased.

Yep, buffalo is good. I've got a buffalo ranch nearby, its great meat. Be careful when you cook it, it doesn't have much fat in it and will go dry very quickly.....

Some snapping turtle would be very unique, and I hear it's quite good.

Buffalo is very close to beef, but much leaner.

Some deer jerky would be excellent. One of the guys I usually go hiking with makes tons of it every year and it composes a large portion of our diet on the trail. Very good stuff if done right.

Oh man the possibilities are endless!

I have eaten:

Bayawak. I don't know what it is called in English but the nearest name that I can find is the monitor lizard or crocodile monitor.
Phyton.
Beef tripe. Man, I love tripe, I actually had them this morning.
Cow brain
Cow's testicles. It's called "Soup number 5" in a place I visited in Southeast Asia.Congruent to Viagra among the locals.
Cow toungue. Another one of my favorite specially if cooked in mushroom sauce and coconut milk.
Pig's brain
Horse meat.
Stingray. Another good meat when cooked with coconut milk.
Shark meat
Frogs
Cricket
Sea turtle and sea turtle eggs.
and
Dog meat. NOW WAIT A MINUTE! before I get scolded here for eating tha,. let me tell you that I didn't know what I was eating before I tasted it, only after I ate it that they told me what I it is. And I regret that and it made me really feel bad, that was the first and last. After that I have to know what I will eat first before trying them.

You might try an exotic meat store, maybe find one online if there is not one in your area.

Gator tail.

Lay fillets about 1-2.5" thick in foil on a grill with garlic and light beer marinade. Do not flip. Allow to lightly brown. Throw in a little salt and pepper or what have you for personal taste. It is awesome. Make sure the foil is turned up so it can hold the juices in...

Well here are some pictures of the meat!

I put my new Griptilian 550HG to good work!

It ended up being really good. The tip of the tongue got over done, and I cut some pieces too thick. I marinated it in my favorite teriyaki sauce.

yummy.. my family eats all sorts of crazy food... including tongue.. i never cared for it...:thumbdn:
