If you haven't bought anything yet, you might want to take a look at the Kershaw Lahar. 3.5" VG-10 blade, good liner lock, tip up/down, G-10 scales, dual thumb studs and a really slick flipper. Street price is around $50.

How about the Spyderco Gayle Bradley, I have one of the those and it's a pretty amazing knife for around $130.

How about the Spyderco Police 3 G-10 lockback. Thin, long and solid as a rock. :)

Buy a Spyderco Endura with a G-10 handle and another one with a ZDP-189 blade. Switch the parts and you will have a good knife and a spare to lend to klutzes.

Definitely worth mentioning that Rob @ combative edge is having a sale on the M1 - only 135 for the plain edge. That is a ti framelock for 135...

Another vote for Military. It DOES have liners, two skeletonised SS liners. It's extremely lightweight for such a large knife, and built towards outdoor work. Very impressive cutting performance, good ergos (larger your hands, the better), best-designed liner lock I've seen (coming from a lefty!) and comes in orange.

I haven't seen one of these yet

Rat 1,,for the price it cannot be beat,,I sharpened mine to shaving sharp yesterday,,

As Noumenon mentioned earlier, the Knifeworks versions of the ZT 0200 and 0350 are available in stone washed S30V for the same price as the standard DLC coated versions from ZT.

I've got the 0350KW and a regular 0200. Both excellent knives. The 0350KW carries very well for the size of the blade. The 0200 is more comfortable in the hand and carries fairly well. Not quite as good as a Millie or 0350, but not too noticeable.

I would contact Kershawguy ( forum member ) and get a ZT 300 series blem. They are in your price range. Your getting a strider tough knife without the $500 price tag. I bought a ZT301 blem and love it. You will Not be dissappointed. Your getting Titanium framelock & G10 handles, S30V blade, flipper to boot !!!

The ZT 301 is the bottom one. ( mine is identical to this one ) I give full credit to he individual who took these pics as they are not my own.

The BM 710 in D2, middle below, is definitely within your range - as barely is the Rukus 610, top below, and the mini-Rukus 615, bottom below. Those two are S30V bladed - and they were canned last fall. You'll have to look for 'New Old Stock', such as a local pusher here has - ~$160-$170. He even had the Auto mini-Rukus 6150! Not liner locks, but great 'AXIS lock' examples.

A less expensive, if you can still find it, secure liner lock is the Buck 419 Folding Kalinga Pro in S30V. Just out a couple of falls ago, it was dropped by the end of last year. Mine is a handful - and a keeper. It's the middle one below, with a Fixed Blade K-P 408 above it and a Folding Hunter 110 below it - for size comparison.

Speaking of the Buck 110 Folding Hunter, it's a real classic. Of course, that is true whether you get the basic model from WallyWorld for $27 or spend hundreds for a Buck Custom Shop 110 in S30V blade steel with expensive scales and nickel silver bolsters. The LH four below are Buck Custom Shop with the CPM154 version made for Bass Pro and the S30V version made for Cabela's to the right. The latter two are ~$75, while the others varied from $84-$180 several years ago. It is my understanding that the best blade steel now available is S30V.

Check out Buck's Custom Shop on their site. They really are 'custom made', albeit in a reasonable time. Great quality, too.

You want serious, buy an Emerson.
My first was a CQC15 and I still love it...very versatile 3.9 inch blade, superb handle ergonomics and a great EDC.
There have been a couple here on BF for sale recently, reasonable, in your stated price range.
Chose the style and length you prefer and go for it.
You won't regret buying an Emerson

I agree with this one 100%....look at the Emerson A-100....no frills, just an all out great knife meant to last....$125-:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

At 3.4" it may be a little short but the Benchmade Presidio is pretty "serious" if yo ask me.
