I would like to suggest that sellers when possible apply the First I'll take it rule in their threads.

I agree that it's best when sellers spell out the details of their terms very specifically. It does not matter to me if it's the first "I'll take it" in the thread or by email, as long as the seller clarifies that IN ADVANCE.

Sellers would be doing themselves and the rest of us a favor by not assuming anything, and take the time to type out all the important terms.

No thanks, if a guy says "I'll take it" and I see he's only been registered a couple days I'm declining.

I think that is something that is assumed by most that have done any dealing, even if its not written in to the thread....

Gotta remember though that if the person that commits has bad feedback, the seller reserves the right to decline to sell to that person..

Realistically, you have no way to know if someone else commited through e-mail or p.m before you did.

Realistically, you also have no way of knowing that the item may have been sold through another outlet (auction or other website/forum). First "I'll take it" is a good idea as long as we understand there are other factors involved and not everyone will think to specify them.

In reality, if I post an item for sale and don't say that the first "I'll take it" must be posted in that thread, I am still going to go by the first contact on it, unless that person is clearly unreliable. I don't know that I want sellers bound by anything but their own decision after seeing who all wants the knife. Of course, that does put a gentleman's responsibility on them to notify everyone clearly when the item is sold. Selling it to the third man down the list is going to lead to some hurt feelings, but we just don't run a rigid contractual system here.

I agree and am very happy we dont because as I want to be in control of my sales. A few guiding rules are fine but making blanket statements like the first Ill take it gets it just leads to hardship down the line.

Or if it's someone you've done business before who you just don't want to fool with again.

I once rated a transaction as successful (I got the money, he got the knife) but some things he did after the sale made me a little uncomfortable with the whole transaction. I'll not sell to that guy again even if he's first.

Every seller here in disagreement has a valid reason for not posting the first I'll take gets rule. All I'm saying is if a buyer post an I'll take it only to find out later that the knife was sold to someone else is a disapointment to the buyer. There are special circumstances that prevent the seller from posting sold because they can't get to their computer and these things happen. But it in most cases it is the duty of the seller to post sold as soon as possible. That way everyone knows it is no longer for sale.

imho all the rules we have right now work fine and have no need of new ones or altering the old, as far as buying/selling goes.

all thats neccesary is to follow the rules and for all to act as adults and treat folks like you would wanna be treated and ya will have plenty of great transactions with not a single problem.

i know i've done more than a few with never a single problem.

as far as the suggested rule its the sellers property and he can sell to who he wishes regardless of who says "'ll take it"or whatever we all have to remember that the item might be for sale elsewhere, or some other variable can come into play, perhaps the buyer is a newbie or is outta the conus, lotsa stuff can make a differnce to folks, if ya miss out on a knife just have some patiance i bet another comes up for sale sooner vs later and possibly cheaper to boot.
