Recommendation? Redwing Boots or?

Looking for a high quality pair of leather boots. I've heard Red Wings are good, are there any better leather boots out there?
Are Red Wings worth the money? How durable are they?
Thanks!

I bought Redwing logger boots for working on fires... they don't technically meet forest service specifications but I only do prescribed fire so It'snot sp important ,but that's neither here nor there... point is, soooooo comfy, they've become my primary work boot for any days I'm not stomping around wetlands in horrible rubber boots. And I have goofy feet and can never find boots that fit properly.

What's goofy about your feet?

Hate Red Wing. They discontinued the 107! The 107 I'm wearing right now is nearly 4 years old! :(

Now I'm considering the 607 for office wear.

Not sure I would still recommend now. Less than a year after buying them they've started to fall apart badly, the liner ripped down the seam and the sole is starting to separate. Not sure if they'll honor the warranty without a receipt.

That sucks. I've heard their warranty Dept is good, but I've also heard that they're not the best at communication

I bought Red Wing Roughneck's about year and ago and I have been super happy with them. They are still super stiff and pain in the ass to get to your feet, but when you have them on they are just pure pleasure to walk with (they are not my only shoes though, so that might be why they aren't as soft yet).
I'm not big shoe guy so I can't say how they compare to other similar shoes but my Doc Martens feel flimsy in comparison. :)

The only reason I haven't bought a pair of redwings is that they're a bit wide for my feet. But the build quality overall seems to be good

Check out Thorogood boots, I just ordered these beauties.

They've got some nice styles and I hear nothing but great things so I went with them, I hear they're nicer / better than Justin's and I love my Justin's so I don't imagine these'd disappoint.

Sweet thanks! My foots pretty skinny, you'll have to let me know how they fit

Will do, just keep in mind that these will be a casual boot for me.
I'm required all black footwear for work and have my Justin conductors for that, I'll be taking care of them and probably not using them too hard but I can certainly report on their comfort.

One thing that attracted me to these boots is Thorogood's reputation for basically no break in period compared to redwing and their Maxi wedge sole is supposed to be a lot harder wearing than the basic Christi wedge from redwing. They're also $100 less than similar offerings from redwing which I liked too.
The only negative I've heard is that the immediate comfort you get from the more supple leather can mean a slightly shorter lifespan for some people compared to redwing, but even with that those same people say it's worth it to have something they can put to work right away.

Just got my Thorogood's, I went with a wide and the fit is perfect so I'd imagine that a standard boot will probably work well for someone with narrow feet.
